    Also, lol "discussions."
They'll drop PS4 just like they did with PS3. Sony has already announced that this is the final year they will produce the thing.

PS5 version is vastly superior and is better than a good percentage of the game's mid-tier PC players.

My PC is clean thank you, I never said that I am having a lot of issues.
But I think Windows 10 has far more annoyances and is less stable.

Just because you haven't had issues doesn't mean others haven't either.
I use both Photoshop and Zbrush for work and I've noticed more instability, it's also not only about software hardware can also play a part.
Even with the same hardware and same software installed you can still run into issues while another doesn't it's never the same.

Windows updates are also quite infamous for screwing with tablet drivers, and I've definitely noticed more issues with Win10 updates in that regard too.

I guess an upgrade is due, but it doesn't feel like one. Work around seems to have done the trick and now I can log in fine and reinstall the entire game because I tried literally everything before checking here including the uninstall -_-

Long live windows 7, the last windows to not be designed by a moron and skim all your data for advertising purposes. May you rest well.

Is it clean though? You can't actually know that unfortunately, as the amount of unpatched, actively used exploits that are most likely undetectable by whatever "virus scanner" you're using likely number in at least the hundreds, if not thousands. Win10 has been stable for years, I've never ever had any issues with tablet drivers on any platform, and gods I would never accept any files from someone running 7 in a professional setting. Use of outdated, vulnerable software is not something I would expect, or even tolerate from a professional I do business with. Yes, 10 was shakey in the beginning (7 was shite too, if you remember), yes, it's fixed now (that MS's evil gaze is cast upon win11 users) Win10 is now in that sweet spot that you all seem to think 7 still is (it is not).

Throw your phone in the water, delete your social media and turn off your internet. Oh btw, windows 7 also uses telemetry data to send system information. I'll never understand why people are so hesitant to upgrade their OS, especially when the one they are on are obsolete and no longer being updated outside of windows defender which will stop getting update in Jan 2023 so exploits and other issues will never get patched and software updates will slowly reach the point of ending support on the older OS. Update your damn OS.

I don't see why they'd start again also given how much time/money launching a new MMO would require, you'd have no choice but to phase out PS4 support for 14 at some point before Sony cut off the ability to sell new games/DLC on that platform (which they've done for all their older consoles already).

It's ultimately just a question of whether or not it happens in 7.0 or 8.0. Given that they've already mentioned doing various graphical improvements across the entire game world, likely to start in 7.0, I'd say that's a good starting point for removing or at least signalling the end of PS4 support. If they go with 7.0, which is likely to be 23Q4 or 24Q1 based on the current patch cycle, the PS5 would've been on the market long enough for enough people to have upgraded.

First, PS5s STILL aren't readily available. Dropping PS4 at 7.0 would be really really really really stupid. Not that they haven't made stupid decisions in the past.

Second, PS4 isn't even holding back the game right now, Lower end PCs are ultimately what are holding back the game (well, the engine is). There would need to be a HUGE amount changes to a HUGE amount of things for 7.0 to come anywhere near the limits of the PS4. look at Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Red Dead Redemption II, God of War, Uncharted 4. FFXIV has a lot of room to improve before it hits the limits of the PS4.

The engine is holding back the game. Sure, they might be able to squeeze a little bit more out of it, but the game is never going to keep up with modern technology. Only reason why PS3 was actually phased out is because FFXIV launched toward the end of its life cycle.

The game will die having PS4 support.

Clean as in I don't have any sketchy software installed which I think was being implied.
Obviously today Windows 7 is outdated and no longer supported but my experience with it was better when it still was than with Windows 10.

That is my experience, my experience being different doesn't mean there's some alterior reason behind it.
Maybe I made it sound like I am saying Windows 7 is still supported or something that wasn't my intent, I was talking about when it still was.

The PS4 was outdated when it was new. I can build a low end pc today that runs circles around the PS4. PC version can also have a wide range of graphical settings, something that eventually caps out with a fixed hardware system. There's a reason the pushed the beta roll out of the PS5 version back during 5.5. They are clearly planning to phase out PS4 support, especially if they want to begin to push out native 4k/120hz support on top of the entire graphical overhaul they are doing for the game. There's absolutely no way they are going to begin pushing out these features and continue to allow themselves be held back by an insanely weak console. Simple features like SSD utilization with the support of the PS5 already blatantly shows the lack of utility the PS4 has when it takes them 9 years to load into a dungeon.

Also, there's 17.5million PS5's out there now. Yes that pales in comparison to the PS4, but you gotta let go eventually. I could see them "maybe" holding on for 7.0, but I'd be shocked if this game continues to support the PS4 version beyond 8.0 as the console would be over 12 years old at that point and we're already at the edge of of them being able to push the engine further due to memory/storage/cpu limitations of the PS4. I know you might think otherwise, but you'd be surprised how limiting the consoles can be. Hell, the main reason we couldn't get capes in ARR was because the PS3 couldn't handle the physics.

If you run any degree of legacy software dealing with Windows 10 and 11 is a fricken nightmare. Some of the times virtualization just doth not cut it either so there are some out there with a nice Windows 7 dual boot setup.

Sometimes you wish to play Dragon Age Origins or something else without spending hours diagnosing obscure nonsense issues. Artifacting and crashing issues abound on Windows 10. Runs flawlessly on Windows 7.

Working with old hardware for job related stuffs means I keep many old machines and equally outdated operating systems around.

Have no clue what others do on their pooters that makes them not wish to upgrade to a modern OS but can state this. My last Microsoft OS was Windows 8.1. Use Linux for nearly everything already that tis not gaming so I just switched to Linux full time. Only time Windows is touched is for games that still will not run properly (or certain software). For that this Mia just uses hardware passthrough and a VM running whichever version of Windows works the bestest.

Had nothing but issues with Windows 10 wishing to automatically do something I am completely uninterested in. It is my pc and it will remain as up to date or out of date as I darn well wish. No more disabling telemetry, no more search indexing folders that do not need indexing, no more Cortana. Just one Lala, her terminal, and preferred desktop environment. Nothing stimulates my everything like checking my memory usage and seeing 96% memory free. Mmmm yummy.

When I still fixed computers for extra dosh I encountered no decrease in melicious software related jobs. However! Saw large uptick in users who had upgraded on machines that had no business upgrading from lack of understanding. Spent much of the time disabling useless "features" knowing full well they would be forcefully re-enabled next major update cycle. Heck, when possible I downgraded many machines back to their origional OS and warned those users not to upgrade unless they enjoyed paying me. Was only ever contacted by some of them when they were ready for a new system and wished for my assistance building them one.

Upgrade for security sure sure, should always recommend this when it is applicable. It is not always applicable. Why the heck are these forums so full of ones gargling Microsoft's big stanky package manager?

TL;DR - Windows 10 - 11 leaves me feeling drier then the great deserts of Dune and this is okay because we do not all have to enjoy the same things.

    Here's one:

Using programs that are known to have major issues even installing onto the newer OS's much less running.

I still enjoy playing older games that pre-date Windows 7. Games that I'm not ready to put down.

I do also understand the security risks and the fact that one day, current games may stop working on my PC due to an update. And I've already had one instance of I can't play something due to my OS being too old and I'm just fine with that because I knew the risk going into it.

But I'm also not going to just upgrade just because I got an error message. I'm going to attempt fixes. Computers aren't cheap. Especially right now with all the shortages. I'm hoping my computer lasts until we pass the worst of the shortages so that I'm not paying too much extra.
