Did SE finally killed Windows 7?

I know that support had already been dropped a couple of years ago, but it seems that the latest update has completely killed/blocked Windows 7 64bit from being able to log in to the game.

I know i'm probably alone in this seeing as most people had already caved in and moved to Windows 10 years ago. I'm still one of the few who are still on 7 (will use 7 till the wheels fall off).

Anyways, just want to ask any other Windows 7 64bit users (assuming there's any here) if they can't log in either?

Oh, it clarifies that it's only Windows 7 32-bit that is affected, so 64-bit should be fine.

Yes, the patch notes says that older versions of TLS were dropped completely, preventing people from playing on Windows 7. We were given a lot of warning about this in live letters and probably other locations for months/years.

I don't really follow the live letters or FF14 news supper closely like that. According to the Patch notes only TLS 1.0/1.1 seem to be blocked?

Weird Windows 64bit supports TLS 1.2. After checking my Internet Settings I can clearly see that TLS 1.2 is clearly checked on. My guess is that SE just simply decided to block Windows 7 regardless if it can use TLS 1.2 or not.

Yes, read that and follow the instructions for how to enable TLS1.2 on Windows 7. Doing that should be enough to get ffxiv working with w7 for a while longer.

Ahhh the classic "It's time to upgrade" comment whenever someone runs into a problem with Windows 7 haha. Aside from this error (not being able to log in to the game anymore) Windows 7 64Bit has always worked perfectly for me. However I do agree with that sentiment. As PC hardware sales man I would never encourage any of my customers to use such an old OS on their new PC's. I simply use Windows 7 for my own personal niche reasons.

Windows 98 was perfect for me but we can't cling to the past.
