You sprint ahead and grab aggro off of them. Not really that hard when it takes like, one or two aoes to do soAs the title says I recently started playing WAR. This is also my first time playing a tank (i pretty much always play healer in any MMO) and i finally understand everyone's complaints about tanking in ffxiv. Like what am i supposed to do if the DPS continually run ahead to pull groups/bosses faster than i can get my character to move?
i appreciate all who gave actual advice to keep up c:
Oh? You want to be healed? Then beg.
point 1. So you wipe the raid on purpose because you refuse to take threat back which is oh so easy to do now?Still think tanks should pull bosses in all content bc, if they aren’t ready to generate aggro, it can easily be a wipe. A pointless one that could just be avoided and adds more time than you saved by pulling too fast.
Also, what if your tanks (or other players) need to suddenly do something irl real quick? Boss arena is a natural pause point for that. Bosses should simply not be pulled until everyone is there and ready. /shrug
point 2. You wipe, you come back to the party, you explain why you afk, laughs all around and you all get a funny story to tell without resorting to pettiness. Though this all can be avoided by simply typing *brb, cat on fire*
Most people gave good advice but just trust me, as a WAR you will do fine as long as you use your mitigation skills (not too sure on WAR, but guides will serve you well). Hit your sprint to keep up, dungeons, for the most part are the same. Learning W2W is a bit of a curve, but not impossible I promise lol. If you always single pull you will never improve on tanking, and obviously do not pull YPYT or let people die.
At the end of the day, should the tank be the one pulling and not DPS? Of course.
Is it the end of the world if a DPS takes a hit or two before you grab threat? No. It's fine. Just get threat when you can and you won't have any problems.
I just don't remember all the skill names off the top of my head
I know healing is busted on them, but sometimes after a hard day's work and doing rouls, it's nice to see a good WAR and just be able to relax a little for a bit. They really do give healers next to nothing to do lol
(b^_^)b
Take your time. They'll live xD
you only need to know one. Bloodwhetting.I just don't remember all the skill names off the top of my head

At least after 82.
Oh, I was injured? When? xD
Remember your gap closers can help a lot in keeping up and getting ahead for trash pulls. One aoe should get most of them on you so dont panic I'd you miss a few. Dps arent likely to die before you all get to where you wanna go and you press another aoe or two.
Sprint is your friend as well as provoke and tomahawk to grab stray aggro as you run to your stopping point.
Let people know you're new of course. Yes you get occasional butts but for the most part people will give you advice and try and support you as you learn.
