You accuse me of that a lot, but you do it too lol.

And better looking is subjective. Most of the female outfits look terrible. But that's just my opinion.
Something that i think we've at least agreed upon in the past is the newer "gender neutral" hairstyles look hideous on both males and females. As far as mogstation outfits go though, i think objectively the female gear has much better detail to it. Look at Hien's outfit for example, absolutely horrible textures. Compare that to say, yshtola's shb outfit or ryne's, it seems very much night and day. It doesnt help it took this long just for males to get a stubble option lol. But even just with healer gear like someone les ementioned, its almost always feminine. The release tomestone gear is literally a female character outfit with little to no adjustments made on it for males so it just looks like a crossdressing outfit.

Honestly as someone who plays mostly WHM and Summoner, I agree with those with some concerns about healer/caster gear. It often does feel quite feminine and while it looks great on females, I felt my options have been very limited on my preferred classes.

A lot of people don't seem to mind dressing their male characters in feminine gear though - I'm still just a bit more traditional with my characters.

You mean like all of the veteran rewards?

The other male outfits in game like the ff12 outfits?

Again, you are focusing solely on Mogstation outfits lol.

Not only are they debatably more feminine, they're also lazier. At least striking/scouting/aiming always have small differences between them, but caster and healer are almost always the exact same outfit, just color swapped. Not even frills/no frills, the exact. same. outfit

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

There are plenty male only glams I would love access too as a female. I don't think males are at a disadvantage at all, they have benefitted the most from glams being made available to both genders.
Meanwhile, players not using previously female only glams :P.

It's very very standard for Japan to just ignore guy characters and hyperfocus on the women.

Just about every game I've played from there that allows the customization of characters will typically have hundreds of thousands of options for girls while guys always get the short end of the stick.

That said, there is at least some masculine armour. ... some. I'd like some more masculine healing weapons and armour though. When it isn't robes it just feels... skimpy.

It's sights like that which make me wish for a toggle to turn other PC into default job gear so I don't have to see their horrible fashion sense xD

Funny enough, tunics (robes) down to the ankles with leggings were the common medieval men's outfit back in the day and is more traditional. Cultures that had longer resisted European influence still to this day have traditional ankle-length clothing for men, like the thawb for Arab men and the kimono for Japanese men. Catholic and Orthodox Christian religious outfits also consist of ankle-length robes.

Women have more diverse options in real-life so it can be expected that our modern outlook is reflected in the game as well. Women have more pressure in society to be "decorated" than men, which has led to more varied options in women's clothing and more focus placed on the designs and aesthetics of female appearance.

Though in European history, after men shed their robes, they started dressing like peacocks and wore high heels. I wonder when modern fashion will circle back to that time.

    The swag was real.

    Can we go back?
It's funny tho how suits are considered fancy nowadays, they all basically look the same.
Is it just me or are they kinda boring?
I want the crazy stuff back.

"In this game"? Try every game. I suppose they must sell better or something. Then again, since they never even attempt to improve the male stuff or try anything different at all, it's basically a self-fulfilling prophecy.
