Honestly as someone who plays mostly WHM and Summoner, I agree with those with some concerns about healer/caster gear. It often does feel quite feminine and while it looks great on females, I felt my options have been very limited on my preferred classes.

A lot of people don't seem to mind dressing their male characters in feminine gear though - I'm still just a bit more traditional with my characters.

Not only are they debatably more feminine, they're also lazier. At least striking/scouting/aiming always have small differences between them, but caster and healer are almost always the exact same outfit, just color swapped. Not even frills/no frills, the exact. same. outfit

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

Funny enough, tunics (robes) down to the ankles with leggings were the common medieval men's outfit back in the day and is more traditional. Cultures that had longer resisted European influence still to this day have traditional ankle-length clothing for men, like the thawb for Arab men and the kimono for Japanese men. Catholic and Orthodox Christian religious outfits also consist of ankle-length robes.

Women have more diverse options in real-life so it can be expected that our modern outlook is reflected in the game as well. Women have more pressure in society to be "decorated" than men, which has led to more varied options in women's clothing and more focus placed on the designs and aesthetics of female appearance.

Though in European history, after men shed their robes, they started dressing like peacocks and wore high heels. I wonder when modern fashion will circle back to that time.

    The swag was real.

    Can we go back?
It's funny tho how suits are considered fancy nowadays, they all basically look the same.
Is it just me or are they kinda boring?
I want the crazy stuff back.

Around 200 years ago, men stopped wearing exaggerated clothes and men who still took an interest in fashion were made fun of and called fops or dandies so everyone collectively started to wear the same dark suits and the irrational male fear of fashion began its reign because guys don't want to be thought of by other guys as being "feminine".

EDIT: The first picture in your post is actually from a print making fun of men who are interested in their appearance.
