    Around 200 years ago, men stopped wearing exaggerated clothes and men who still took an interest in fashion were made fun of and called fops or dandies so everyone collectively started to wear the same dark suits and the irrational male fear of fashion began its reign because guys don't want to be thought of by other guys as being "feminine".

    EDIT: The first picture in your post is actually from a print making fun of men who are interested in their appearance.

    As others have already raised, I think there's a fair bit of gear that gets dismissed as "feminine" on men when it's actually historical. There are robes and fancy Victorian-gothic coats and all sorts of things that are far more interesting than modern menswear but still primarily designed for men.

    Also, "being traditional" can also mean ruling out an awful lot of things that female characters can wear but wouldn't be acceptable in the past – whether it's revealing or just wearing those menswear pieces.

    I'm not sure about that. I can think of plenty of examples where the DPS gear designs (or other pairing configurations) are exact swaps.

    That's called "Peak Male Fashion" and I expect it from everyone playing a male Roe, Highlander, and Hroth.

    Bu-bu-but, if male characters got more/better glam items, then the waifus would get less! D;

    I kind of wanted Lyse's hairstyle, but for some reason, it's female exclusive despite Aymeric's being available to both genders.

    Female hairstyle for females. You're better off asking for Estinien's new hairstyle. They are literally the same.

    To each their own I suppose.

    On this male Hyur, I have roughly 50’ish glamour plates (game only allows 20, so I saved the rest in form of spreadsheet and some screenshots) of varied roles, occasion, and/or purpose. I have 7 that I use the most but the other 8 I’d rotate them quite often whenever my mood wishes to. At least when compared amongst my social circle folks, I consider myself to be one of the most invested in glamours. Personally, I do not feel disadvantageous. At least not in any wide margin vs what female avatars can get.

    There are still some of those unfortunate ”man, I wish I can wear this piece”-moments though, i.e. currently available female GARO glamours, some NieR gears where it swaps between jeans vs mini-skirt depending on character gender.

    They probably don't want to deal with all the earless Hrothgars in Lyse ponytails. XD
