Be honest, because I just feel as if that did in fact happen, there’d still be plenty of people playing ffxiv like nothing happened. Bad PR, but what matters is the subscriptions. I’m sure 80 - 90% of players would still stay.

I don’t support NFTs but let’s be real here.

Can someone please explain in layman's terms, what a NFT is and how it would impact the game?

Pretend I'm old, like could be a grandfather to some of you yunguns old.

My understanding is a NFT is a virtual image of some sort and for the life of me can't fathom how they work or what their value is or how in the sam hill they would be in FFXIV.

You asked too much when you requested honesty, OP. There have been countless who swore up and down they'd leave when MTX appeared in their game, but now it's seen as a part and parcel of modern games. I don't think NFTs will become as common at all in games, but let's be frank - if they were added there will be some noise, some unsubscribing, lots of media attention and bemoaning... and then everyone returns.

I'd stay if they added NFTs. Won't buy into them because I'd rather spend my time leveling than understanding how they work. I love the game, call me a consoomer or whatever. But I vote with my wallet by paying for the game and not for those PNGs. I don't have much money to throw around willy-nilly so I'd rather stay for a game with a steady stream of content than a one-and-done big purchase that I finish in 40 hours.

Seriously? The NFT-thingy has only one practical purpose: scam. You can replace the word "NFT" with "crypto-scam" and you are always right. The same with the word "Web3".

But even if they introduce it, there is nothing practical to do with NFTs. NFTs will never have an impact to the game. I guess, the NFT case was for shareholders. So they can see, that the company does not live under a rock and they have the newest sh*t on their radar.
