The best part of it....
They want you to file a Network packet loss test
Using a Third party tool!
The jokes write themselves

Shocker - they only address it when the Japanese data center players complain about it.
But if someone else does that's not there, it's 'duly noted'.

Thanks for caring about this when we told you it was happening outside your islands, Square Enix.
Maybe now we'll see some actual action? Or are you're just going to move the goalpost even further by saying "Not on my machine, not much I can do"?
YUP. We had so many people experiencing problems at the same time, every day, that we began calling it "comcast time" as a meme. But it wasn't even just affecting comcast users; it started branching out and hitting pretty much everyone. I don't recall any word at all from SE about it, and players had to sort of fumble in the dark until they found their own solutions. Personally, playing the game through a VPN fixed it for me. I began sharing my vpn account with other people I played with, and it fixed things for them too. Made me think it was a routing issue on the way to the game's servers. I'm not mad at SE for not fixing an infrastructure problem out of their hands (going to be generous and assume this was the problem), but I wish they'd even acknowledged that people were having issues and they were looking into it. This went on for months on my end with radio silence until one day it simply stopped being an issue. Every now and again though it crops up in the evening for a week or two at a time and I have to play on a VPN again, and sure enough all the other same people are affected as well. Massive packet loss. People running in place for 10 seconds and then snapping back all at once. Straight up unplayable unless you do something about it yourself. And of course, XIV will be the only application affected by it; discord's fine, streaming is fine, other games are fine, etc.
Meanwhile when the problem affects Japan, here we are with a statement immediately.

the problem i have with this "response" is
1: Ping and lag issues have been talked about since Stormblood at the latest, maybe before, and has been brought up at live letters, interviews and events and the response is always basically "we didnt know that this was a problem"
2: If I am having lag or ping issues in a dungeon or raid, im supposed to stop, run a test on my computer and submit that information? or do I wait till im out of the duty and submit a ticket then when the technical issues aren't actively happening?
3: A majority of the ways to actively know if youre experiencing these issues is with 3rd party add ons, but using 3rd party add ons can get us banned.
Unless Im missing something
People accuse the FFXIV devs of only listening when the JPN playerbase complains or is affected and this is simply another data point proving that to be more likely an accurate assessment than not.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Ironically, one of the most popular third party addons is literally just a ping plugin. It gives you a little overlay telling you what your current ping is, and which server you are connected to. If only we could submit that...the problem i have with this "response" is

I know that it sucks that it needed to affect them for them to take notice.
However...
It's not exactly like US publishers and studios tend to give a damn about EU players or people in Asia.
I know the OP is in the EU too so it's not directed at him specifically, but it's just that I see people get mad about this sometimes when this is how it works all the time in other games too.
If you're a US player you're prioritized over other regions and it can be hard to actually be heard by the devs if you're in the EU often times you just go ignored.
With Blizzard we even have worse forums with less features and sections and the mods are about as non-existent as they are on this forum it just seems like they ignore the existence of it altogether.
Not directed at EU support tho, I reached out to them many times when I still played Blizzard games and they were ALWAYS very helpful. Last time they even helped me recover my account without an ID since it had expired and I had Covid so couldn't get a new one for a while.
The EU Blizzard support went through quite a bit of hoops to help me which I greatly appreciated.
But outside of their EU support you're basically totally ignored as a EU player.
Not too surprising that JP players are listened to first and foremost in this case.
But yeah this is by far more greatest issue with FFXIV, you shouldn't need a VPN for it to be playable.
Funnily enough it was completely flawless the first couple of weeks after launch for me but then hell began.
West NA players since 2.0 then East NA players since 3.55: Could you please try do something against the animation locks? This game is unplayable with our ping.
Yoshi: Why am I laughing? Apologies my friends, it's just that as a player in japan, these illogical complaints of clipping and animation lock of yours... well, I find them to be amusing.
What's that? A free sample of your updated alexander plugin? Not necessary. I have already calculated the game experience in my head and it is perfectly designed to playable at 200 ping. Mmmm... perhaps a bit less packet loss next time?
JP players since 6.1: hewp me pwease I have a wittle bit of wag…..
Yoshi: Worry not, King. We are working on the issues full time, please have a way to report your own issues so we can work on them.

YoshiP:“Based on the information that most of the recent reports are specifically coming from Japan, while others are playing without issue…“
Haven‘t people been complaining about this since ever?![]()
