At the very least, they should allow you to choose gender separate from character model. I don't think it would even require that much coding because we already have a 'character gender' flag SOMEWHERE on our character data and the in-game dialogue just references that to determine whether to use he or she. So like... it SHOULD be just the addition of a selection box at the start to allow people to choose that separate from their character model.

In theory it should work this way. The issue though is that whatever tag is used for dialogue may be the same tag used for clothing. Could cause some unforseen problem trying to split those up. Spaghetti code and all that.

The first sentence. Pandering to the LGBTQ+ community is never enough, they always ask for more and are never satisfied. You guys can't draw the line and are clinically afraid of gatekeeping so the moment the brainrot of MAPs starts working that's gonna be the next thing on the agenda of forcing developers into supporting. The entire narrative of this game has largely been centered around fighting back a fascist empire committing ethnic genocide. If 'woke' is something that bothers you, you've been playing the entirely wrong game (and series; this is a common theme in Final Fantasy) to begin with.

so it's been a hot minute since the last time i saw an active request for pronoun choices in game, either just differing from the sex of the character model, or entirely new pronouns that aren't currently included in the game. So this is my request for SqEnix to look at the option of adding pronoun choices in the game.

Now, before people go off about how much work this would be, and how unreasonable, and how little it's needed, I *know* that it is a lot of work, 10+ years of dialogue, and that the people who need this are a minority, but I still think it would be worth it.

Edit: if you're just going to come and say it's not worth it, please don't comment. If you're going to disparage the queer community, leave.

Easy solution, if you want your character to be refered to as 'her' then pick a female character.

This isnt real life, its a fantasy world.

Keep these things in the real world where they belong, Video games dont need it.

Apologies to the OP for what this thread has become. They're not asking for much, and they're asking in a very reasonable way.

I'll never understand why people who typically play MMOs are so homophobic/transphobic. Even more so than the overall gamer population already is.

Someone suggests a simple feature that will make a small but still important group of people more comfortable playing their favourite game, and suddenly everyone is a Square Enix project manager making dev resourcing decisions.

There's already a pronoun variable in the game, all we want is the ability to edit it. This changes nothing for the people who are happy with the default, but means a lot to trans and non-binary folks.

If you think this change is political or controversial in any way, I hope you reflect on what life for people who it might affect be like.
