It's simple okay. Just lock items to the world they came from. Give them a world signature or something. So if item X was obtained (crafted, bought, dropped, etc) on Moogle for example, it should get the "Moogle" signature and only be able to be sold on Moogle. You should still be able to use or wear the item, but not resell it. Simple solution to this problem.

The whole Chaos data center is flooded with JP items sold by bots who just keep transferring Home World. So A: prices for those items on Chaos drop significantly, and B: you are automatically being undercut every 10 minutes so good luck selling your item. It's funny that I (players in general I guess) am able to figure all this sh*t out by myself, yet SE seems to have no clue. Even after handing SE all the retainer names of the bots and proxy characters used to buy the items on the JP data center nothing happens.

So, if I legitimately transfer a character to another world such as to play with some friends/access housing, I would be stuck with everything in my inventory and would not be able sell anything I had prior to the transfer? What about people who travel to another world to buy an item that they need but only find a stack of items while they only need one?

I have no issues selling on the market board though I avoid items such as classical armor as it is too much trouble to craft and the market too competitive (and when you look the the price of mats, many crafters seem to have a “math” problem). There are many other things that are far simpler and cheaper to craft and sell for more. When it comes to stacks of items, I sell in smaller stacks and can thus price higher than the bots and people selling stacks of 99. There are many items that sell pretty well and pretty fast.

As for undercutting, unless it is an item popular with bots, I sometimes undercut or sometimes price higher based on history. If I had the lowest price and someone undercuts me, again I use the history to help me make a decision: maintain my price and wait, undercut or buy the discounted item and resell it.

If I see items priced abnormally low, I won’t hesitate to buy them all and resell them at a mark up or even to an npc as people can sell things well below what npcs will give you. The person got the price they were asking and there is no reason for them to complain.

The opposite is also true: simple vendor items can sell for many times their cost (bought some stuff for 400 gil, resold 25k). Playing with the MB can be fun and the short lived crowd effect can be amazing to watch.

If the upcoming data center travel includes the ability to use the MB we can expect wild fluctuations at first and then it should more or less equalize after a while. I am more worried about the added congestion at aetherytes it may bring during hunts.

In the meantime, SE should take action against the RMT buyers, not just sellers. Sellers don’t care if they get banned. They’ll just keep making accounts and use bots to make gil if they can turn a RL money profit.

Sometimes you just have to pick the lesser evil. Your scenario will seldom happen whereas the rmt/reseller scenario happens very often. Plus they could make and exception for stackable items/crafting materials. Those are not the items being resold in the first place anyway.

This scenario happens more than you think and SE will want to populate its new worlds. Punish the general population because of a few abusers makes no sense.

I don't care if people resell items. It's super easy to make money with the MB by selling the right stuff (and buy items that are priced too low to resell them. Just made 80k in 5 minutes buying under priced items on my server and selling them to a vendor). Those who buy massively on the JP servers concentrate on specific items anyway and there is plenty of room left. As for me, I will often buy the items that are priced 1 gil above the lowest. I also have no shame to seriously undercut someone if I want to.

True, but if they're coming from a server where it's super cheap to get the mats, THEN move over and craft, they could easily price you out of your own market because you are in fact trapped. In a box. The walls closing in. Your very existence and reality shrinking around you. And the only recourse is to shuffle off from this immortal coil and find a new market and hope they didn't load up on mats for other things as well, lol.

But honestly, as someone who's been at this gig over 3 years at this point, the way it is now is our only saving grace. Because they always find a way, and they will try to beat you down and force you out. And if you can't migrate your own goods elsewhere and try to still make a decent sale, you're out of luck Chuck. And then once you're out they jack the price. Seen it more then once. Some have also utilized Dynamis to come over because it's free to move to a new world and reap madness that way.

I got roped in to all of this early on because someone decided to just tank my stuff and scoop it up and sell it elsewhere, so I quickly forced a bunch of alts in to my DC so I would stop getting pecked to death. Fast forward almost 2 years and the JA player appears acting like they're doing something new, lol. But this time, because of cross world travel, I was getting pecked from multiple angles with no recourse or able to stave it off. And there was no sign of it stopping either. So I then had to force a bunch of alts in to the other DCs and it stopped because I was forced to pretty much homogenize the markets in order to 'make it so'.

I'm glad I did because this seller shows no signs of ever leaving. Regardless of whatever one may think about how it would 'help', remember, this was already a thing long before the cross-world travel. If anything they unlocked the cage. Yea it could benefit them, but with how they run, I'm sure they don't even need cross-travel to do what they do, but allowing it levels the playing field for the casual seller. I would suggest leveling alts elsewhere and utilize your mannequins, or a friend, to move it if needed. It honestly only takes 5-6 hrs tops to go from level 1 to Retainers. About a day, day and a half if you want to go the extra mile and go to 50 and get an apt for mannys. Adventurer in need for extra seals to boost the GC to the point of Expert Deliveries. If you're selling high priced weapons/glams the cost pays for itself quickly from the gil you save on taxes alone. Plus, it's another room to decorate!

Any solution that we might think will work they will just adapt to as they always have and we'll just be chopping off our own noses to spite our own faces.
