    OT: hilarity and usage

Sorry for the snark but the usage of the word "literally" correct or not causes me to have a verbal seizure. Literally.
Canadane is undoubtedly a font of FFXIV wisdom and "literally" seems to be accurate (if perhaps unnecessary) in responding to "hide your mod usage." But I still laughed at SenorPatty's response even though it in no way refutes Canadane's point.

Overuse of "to be honest" (do I usually lie? It should probably be "to be frank" or perhaps "to be brutally honest") and of "literally" (especially when used ironically or hyperbolically to mean "figuratively" or as a meaningless intensifier - thankfully not in this case) are terrible vices that have somehow wormed their way into my brain. Figuratively.

I'm reading this and I'm giggling a little bit too but you're right about two things: I didn't actually answer properly and Canadane is one of the few voices of reason so I'll answer properly. Before that though, I need to get this out of the way: there are people who are going to consider any form of modding a cheat. I'm not here to argue that but I will say that I have my own definitions as well and as such when I use the word "mod" here, I refer to mods that do not directly impact someone else (like gshade or hat mod for viera/hrotgar).

I'm not encouraging cheating or to hide cheating, as Canadane literally(ugh, spasms). I'm encouraging modders--who are not going to stop modding no matter what anyone says--to be quiet about usage. That also includes broadcasting it, streaming it, showing it to public. Every year, for some reason, someone just can't help themselves and they go a step further and every year, SE and YoshiP have to be like "Guys, please cmon, don't make do this." And the faceless mob that have a hateboner for all things modding are cackling with a maniacal laugh and can't wait to (socially) execute those they manage to catch.

So yeah, if you feel like all modding is cheating, then I can't stop you from feeling that I'm encouraging people to cheat. If you want to ask me which mods/tools I think that cheat or not, that's unfortunately not a discussion that I would engage here on the forums.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
