Yoshi-P already confirmed in a past Letter from the Producer that YES you need to use Magic Crafting stats for better results in crafting items with magic stats on them.
This !
It should be:-
Main crafting stats - Craftmasnship
Secondary stat - Control
Third - Whatever your class specialises in (MND,VIT,STR etc)
Magic Craftmanship is for offhand, craftmanship is for main hand. You can test this out just from crafting things that need one vs the other, and eating food for mag craftmanship really doesn't help synths you have to use your main hand for, I've done enough synthing even after 1.21 to see this. And yes like said before, pre 30, and if you're doing a synth like more than 5 levels above you post 30, you need to stack control. Do you have preserve from Alchemist, its like level 10 that helps a lot sets everything to white for like 4-5 turns.
I think a lot of things that have magic stats use offhand, but I only use offhand for the juices now.
source: cul at 38 now, been super easy the whole way. Easier than wvr, but then again I leveled up wvr along side btn, my cul got the benefit of having a 40 btn, but I mainly do leves and only make food for gil (or for battle/craft for me and my friends).

sorry to tell you but dried prunes did exist prior to 1.21
so what i said holds true, you may be dealing with a recipe that had its level changed during the recipe reform

All I can say is you're doing something wrong. I fail less than one leve in 30. Most leves don't fail a single synth. And I do leves that are *above* my level (I prefer 'em, I get more XP that way).Lv20 leves are anywhere from lv20-lv24, Lv25 leves are anywhere from lv25-lv29, etc...
It is not fun to have no control over if I fail a leve or not - (IE: well, I'm gonna push the correct button now and see if the game decides if I get to craft this or not!)
I fail more leves then I complete.
The leves I complete barely give exp because they have very low quality.
RNG in crafting is not fun. /shrug
Mind sharing how you synth then, so I can try it out and see if I can not fail anymore?
I shared what I am doing, is what you are doing any different then what I am doing?
I thought I was reading my own post here for a moment. I'm totally on your page about this BS crafting system. It completely blows my mind how anyone can have a max-level crafting class in this game.
The total randomness of it drives me to drink and I have literally blown out my voice screaming at the game out of pure unbridled rage.
I took Armorer to Lvl 24 before selling all my crafting gear and giving up (probably) forever on the crafting mini-game.
There is no reason why a player should ever fail a craft rated 10 levels below their own, but it happens.
As with your example, if a level 20 player picks up a crafting leve ranked at level 20, yes there should be some difficulty, however with proper gear and prep-work, as you stated you've done, there is NO reason for failure.
All of this on top of the fantastically mind-numbing nature of the beast (1-button.. wait.. 1-button.. wait) and an annoyingly slow XP gain. Ugh! I'm getting frustrated just thinking about it.
Don't get me wrong though, I don't mean this to be an attack on anyone.
Really, good for all of you who have endured the torture that is the FFXIV crafting system. I am sincerely happy you've mad it that way as I've probably purchased some of your goods.![]()
Can We Get a toggle for that toggle?

yes you can still fail by spamming standard, but i JUST skilled on dried prunes myself and guess what! .... ya i was naked with a frying pan and only broke ones where i didn't pay attention and hit careful synth too many times. if the leve is different than that then idk what to tell ya.
