The RNG of Synthisis

... Synthisis is extremely frustrating for me - hoping that RNG doesn't cause me to fail when I craft is too annoying.

I am done crafting in FFXIV unless the RNG nature of Synthisis is removed.

I thought I was reading my own post here for a moment. I'm totally on your page about this BS crafting system. It completely blows my mind how anyone can have a max-level crafting class in this game.
The total randomness of it drives me to drink and I have literally blown out my voice screaming at the game out of pure unbridled rage.

I took Armorer to Lvl 24 before selling all my crafting gear and giving up (probably) forever on the crafting mini-game.
There is no reason why a player should ever fail a craft rated 10 levels below their own, but it happens.
As with your example, if a level 20 player picks up a crafting leve ranked at level 20, yes there should be some difficulty, however with proper gear and prep-work, as you stated you've done, there is NO reason for failure.
All of this on top of the fantastically mind-numbing nature of the beast (1-button.. wait.. 1-button.. wait) and an annoyingly slow XP gain. Ugh! I'm getting frustrated just thinking about it.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't mean this to be an attack on anyone.
Really, good for all of you who have endured the torture that is the FFXIV crafting system. I am sincerely happy you've mad it that way as I've probably purchased some of your goods.

yes you can still fail by spamming standard, but i JUST skilled on dried prunes myself and guess what! .... ya i was naked with a frying pan and only broke ones where i didn't pay attention and hit careful synth too many times. if the leve is different than that then idk what to tell ya.

Hand of the Gods is one of the best skills to have, prevents any durabillity loss for 3 synths, it's a godsend to pump your exp bonus from leves.

As a side note I'd love to see this old letter from the wonderful Yoshi, i imagine something in a letter from him would be more common knowledge, leading to less people sayin "nu-uh!" to your mention of it.

As expected, people are blaming the OP and can't even consider the fact that the RNG got weird post-patch.

Yes, spamming standard doesn't seem to work now. But let me use my example:

Pre-1.21
ARM lv 16, spamming standard on Iron Ingots and/or Iron Plates
Naked, using lv 1 crafting gear

Post 1.21
"well, now things matter. I'll get some crafting gear, food and try not to spam standard"
Same recipes, now failing every 2 or 3.

I am paying attention to the orb, using food, using correct gear for my level and using support. And still it seems that every two or three synths I get into a "fail state" where every action fails (to the point I'm afraid "Wait" is going to fail). Same thing happens with GSM and I've gotten into that "fail state" even while doing low lv synths as a lv50 WVR.

The exp boost is great, but it got more frustrating to me. I guess we now have to do lower lv synths + quality to get steady exp.

I make things that are way above my level still with minimal effort, i juts can't put myself in your shoes i guess, cuz this crap is easy to me now.

Guy it not him it the system of crafting in ffxiv, have any of you guy think about the fact that it take you 1-3minute to craft a recipe that might be 10 or more under you. Even if you use hasty hand on a low rank craft their a chance it blow up even so you rank 50 and you trying make rank 21 craft recipe and you dont care for the HQ. I just try make sunstone ring as rank 50 goldsmith using hasty hand and it blow up 2/10 time. Why cant it be 100% since if you standard or rapid craft it 100% chance.

Standard and rapid are not 100%, THIS would be the fault of the RNG lol

The very simple problem is that you are using TOO MUCH CAREFUL, and TOO LITTLE STANDARD.
