i dont flaunt it as much as just bring it up when asked or someones talking about it
it was alot of damn work and continues to be alot of damn work lol
but back on subject
black mage vs thm, thm has more hp, also has abilities avaialable to them for survivability that blm does
gladiator can kite, pld cant really
there are MANY reasons youd want to use one over the other, so eliominating 1 makes no sense except that some people dont like to think about it, they want 1 answer, and not a choice, they want to be told what to do, not asked what they want to do

Aye Job classes improves their overall powers in their specified field of expertise, however at the sacrifice of flexibility and versatility. Using your example of kiting as a GLA vs. PLD just having the ability to use Second Wind to heal yourself in the King Mog fight makes a world of difference, especially where you can't cast while moving anymore.black mage vs thm, thm has more hp, also has abilities avaialable to them for survivability that blm does

Personally, I'm content with the current system. Not because I don't want more defining Jobs later on (Lord knows I want Red Mage), but one of the biggest flaws of FFXI with it's job/sub system was it had too many jobs and not enough unique or adequate roles to properly fill each one, which led to alot of job favoritism and imbalance which still greatly plagues FFXI. However with the current system you have only a few predefined roles, no matter if your playing GLA or PLD your still getting a tank, CON or WHM your still getting a healer, MRD/WAR your getting a berserker DD, LNC/DRG Tactical DD, THM/BLM Nuker, and so on. The classes/jobs might be uniquely a little different from each other to differentiate themselves apart, but they aren't so different that their roles are separated.

Thanks... some people in my own linkshell are under the belief that jobs are useless against Ifrit.yes, since patch there have been groups that have went in with just jobs and groups that have ran in just classes. the job group i was in did clear it a little quicker than the class party did, but we also changed a few people out so it could have been a difference in skill levels as well. the content in game is able to be beaten in full parties of either.
Oh hell no, DNC should require Gladiator (or Thief; for daggers) and then 'maybe' LNC.
I play on TheVedis' server. She plays a LOT! I wonder if she sleeps some days.
Anyways, SE hit the marker with jobs. Jobs are meant for group play and they are wonderful for them. Classes are more versatile and better for soloing. People still run group as classes too, because they like the versatility and flexibility of them. Where I was never a fan of the armory system, SE is making it work quite well.
