fair point but you could also have the potential to make people more interested in the lore with them, I do think there should have a bit more reward in doing them other than just the lore. The main point of all the side quests is to add tons of little details to the local lore, for people interested in it. If you aren't one of those and skip skip skip all the dialogs, these quests are so quick to complete that you can not give them too much xp as a reward for nearly no effort at all. There is already enough people complaining of max level players not having a clue of how to play their job properly, we don't need to make that worse by allowing to level entire jobs just by speaking to a few npcs.
Side quests? Why not Fates, Battle Leve's and othey daily quests?.
I think some features related to leveling a job are quiet dead and almost pointless to do, if they reward so few XP.
You could say the same thing to some degree about the main quest. Why not make it both worth our time and interesting? Seems to me that they should already know what quests are long/short and you could adjust them based on that. None of this will fix the issue of mains at high levels not knowing how to play, nor do I think it will hurt it more. Grinding out low level dungeons doesn't teach much in the way of skills for people who don't want to learn. The main point of all the side quests is to add tons of little details to the local lore, for people interested in it. So why not have more options and more reasons to see the lore? I personally think leveling speeds should go
1. main quest
2. dungeons or side quests
3. everything else
Then add some better tutorials for how to actually play classes in dungeons to fix issues with players no knowing what they are doing I guess...it's a very different issue.
I'm fine with a whole lot more avenues but right now side quests is way down there. Fate grinding is faster I believe right now.
I agree that it would be nice for them to get even a little bump. It's all fine to say that they just exist for the lore and/or world building, but it literally feels like you're being punished for choosing to do them over just about anything else unless the lore is literally the only thing you care about. Plus, if they did reward more XP, it could encourage more people to do them and end up enjoying the story and lore even more than they already do.
It's also not how any rpg really works. Side quests should be there for lore, story, fun, gear, and EXP. Just another path to play the game, and right now that exp part is way out of balance.I agree that it would be nice for them to get even a little bump. People do them because they enjoy getting the additional lore/stories for the zone.
Not everything needs to revolve around leveling/power progression.\
If players aren't already taking an interest in the lore from doing MSQ, adding more XP to side quests isn't going to change their interest in the lore.

But why not? Why not make it worth the time vs other content...ie balancing the content. In an RPG should you really have to choose between time leveling and lore? Seems like making it time equal to other activities for leveling alts is a win win.People do them because they enjoy getting the additional lore/stories for the zone.

Since Shadowbringers, the side quests already give a lot of good xp for little to no effort and they scale up. It was very easy to level up DPS jobs this way.
More XP isn't the solution to everything and they certainly don't need to spend the time going back and tweaking hundreds of quest rewards just because. There's plenty of xp to be earned just for logging in and running content. You've got Hunts, WT, Challenge, Dungeons, Roulettes No one really suffers from a lack of xp unless they're just in here for the wrong reasons.
I have a laundry list of things I can’t stand about the game , this would be like #6 or so but they think “Road to 90” will solve all the leveling woes but what the game really need it
ALTERNATIVES
Leves, side quests, beast tribes, Fates, Explorative content, Deep dungeons, perhaps more systems similar to WT literally anything. The game has lots of avenues but none of them are valid enough and Leves even got exp removed.
