Why are newer players more abusive towards mentors?

As for why people are this way to mentors, no idea. It is a thing tho I've noticed it a lot. For a community that prides itself on "niceness" and acceptance, they sure are vitriolic to mentors based on anecdotal past experiences.

It's not really anecdotal tho, bad mentors don't get removed by SE or well very rarely. These mentors want the mount, they don't care for newbies and through the mentor roulette they get literally shuffled around in ALL the content the game has to offer which is accessible through the normal dutyfinder. This means everyday hundreds of toxic mentors get thrown around into random groups where they can spew their toxicity around and just so they can get the prius to their elitist crown. So it's more SE fault for allowing bad mentors to invade every dungeon and raid and everything else out there while they are only after the achievement and mount.

So for the achievement you need 2000 mentor roulette runs. That are 2000 potential encounters with bad mentors who are just there for the mount for each mentor and when a mentor does one of these roulettes a day they spend 6 years with this until they are finished. That is every bad mentor polluting the dutyfinder with their toxic presence for 6 years or well 2000 runs. And they are no experts, they don't want to help or know how to play. They leave ex trials as soon as they pop up, they go afk in dungeons and flame people for being too slow. And that for 2000 runs, for each mentor.

I have personally experienced racism in real life. People calling a mentor's crown a "Burger King crown" is not even close.

So have I. And because of my experiences it is never okay to attack other people based on their appearances. It's simple really.

I have thought for myself, and I have seen many, many "toxic" mentors - been on the receiving end of it even. Mentors who put in the least amount of effort, and complain or attack others in chat. Many just outright say they are only a mentor for the rewards, or NN chat, rather than being a mentor. So, no, my opinion was formed from years of personal experience.

Yea I blocked like 3 mentors in nn, one is just extremely grating with the same old "wow refugees" "jokes" and the other just uses nn to complain about the game but that said, my experience has not been so bad honestly. Most mentors (well at least the 10% that actually say something) there have been helpful and respectful.

Discrimination is never okay. Attacking a group of people because you see some trends does not mean you need to go into a duty or interaction with prejudice. This is low key just a different form of racism. You latch on to something different about people and think their exterior appearance, in this case a crown, entitles you to think less of them or treat them with less dignity when they are players just like you.

You should treat a mentor as you would any other player in the game. If they turn out to be a bad mentor, that is them. Not something to judge all of them by.

Personally i don't hate the mentor system or blame mentors on this, it's SE fault and SE fault alone to trust western players to not abuse a mentor system with offers unique rewards and a unique two seater mount. SE created this problem by not understanding how the western culture works and it lead to untold suffering, mire and plague.

Japanese culture is different, they take the system seriously. But for NA it's a meme, it's a cultural abyss of greed and selfishness. Most mentors want the mount and achievement and maybe the status but nothing more. And that is SE fault for not moderating this system at all.

90% of pve mentors I meet are mediocre at the game at best, I think 4th savage boss should be required for mentor every single .0 .2 etc patch.

Plus the novice network is awful... nicest way I can put it...

I just don't think mentorship is necessary for players to be either helpful or respectful. All of this can be accomplished without the system.
