And...?
also, plenty of people use stuff like Alexander to fix the godawful ping related animation lock this game has, what's your solution to them exactly? move? not every area is serviced well by this game, even still
To do this they would have to log literally everything. I doubt, that they do that. Generating those log files is VERY ressource consuming on the server side. And their servers would run out of space very quickly. And you need people who analyze those log files. This is also heavy on personal ressources.

The problem is, you cannot really distinguish between "good mods" and cheats in a generic way. So i guess, when they implement a client side anti cheat solution then it will also mark players with cosmetic mods as cheaters.
Cheers
ty for sharing I've added it to the first postWhat all these crappy third party programs can do:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGb3WA-pl-s
Bann all third party programs, no need for this in FF14.
And thus lies the problem in Square Enix trying to determine who's legitimate and who's cheating. It's a minefield that's too big to simply ignore now. The much larger player base combined with greater attention from platforms like Twitch means we've reached a threshold upon which SE have to do something.
There is one big problem with an anti-cheat software - non-Windows players.
And I don't talk about Linux users (ones that OP tried to downplay for some childish reason) but everyone on Mac.
Mac version will have the same problems with anti-cheat as Linux, because they are more or less using the same technology - CodeWeavers (guys responsible form Mac XIV) products have the very same issues and false flags with popular anti-cheats, as Wine/Proton.
And while you can argue that noone plays on Linux (spoiler, Steam Deck got released, and XIV got official endorsement for Gaben to play it there, so there will be influx of Linux gamers, even if they are "windows mains" just wanting to play on the go), Square has an officially supported, extra paid, Mac client which will have troubles with anti-cheat, and even without it, it's maintenance causes many problems already.
If they cannot properly maintain Mac client, and finally make a proper, official Linux one, then any third party anti-cheat software is a no-no.
Just got out of 2 CASUAL Crystal Conflict games. 5 limit break attempts, 5 instant CC's nullifying them.
The cheaters are using casual to grind series rank so they won't possibly lose Ranked Rating.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Then don't ever make anti cheat. There are more people that use it for non harmful purposes than cheaters, and I would rather put up with a few cheaters than the non cheaters get harmed.
