[Feedback] Add Epic Easy Anti-Cheat to FFXIV before is too late

I'm curious about this. Not saying you're wrong or anything as I really honestly have no idea what the numbers is so don't take this as some sort of call out.
Of course, given that console players can't use 3rd party add ons of any sort, I do wonder how many PC players there are who do use add ons for reasons not involving cheating and what the breakdown would be between QoL, visual upgrade and performance appraisal (which are all valid uses IMO).

One of the uses that I know of is creating sharper images and more vibrant colors, effectively removing this weird 'fog film' that the game otherwise has. Also lots of addons help with gposing, something I saw with someone who sent me a screenshot when we reached the bottom of PotD and it was absolutely gorgeous.

That's my exposure to third parties, at least.

People defending third party apps, hacks and mods lol Its not allowed by the ToS and SE really need to enforce those - also either moderate ranked stuff properly or flat out dont make anything ranked - have tiers instead with certain points needed per tier, so cheating looses a lot of its power...

I don't think you understand or realise how many people use 3rd party tools simply for cosmetic and harmless QoL, they're never going to ban everyone for 3rd party tools or add an anti-cheat. 2/3 of the player base would be gone, content creators would be gone. Never going to happen.

I think you're really overestimating the amount of people that actually use plugins to play this game. Square Enix's handoffs approach to moderating any third party tool usage is really going to backfire if they want competitive PvP modes to actually survive in this game. This content can survive and thrive in this game if SE actually did their job in correctly moderating it. FFXIV is currently an exception to the rule in being one of very few online games without an anti-cheat but I just don't see why that should remain at this stage. It's worth implementing to ensure the online environment is as equal as possible for all players, including those on PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles that never have access to this.

I haven't encountered a single anti-cheat that actually managed to stop the majority of cheaters while at the same time avoiding annoying false positives that would result in the game client closing for reasons as simple as tabbing out of the game.

They just need to expand and/or restructure their moderation teams so there aren't so many reports just slipping through the cracks in spite of painfully obvious evidence.

Well, it seems many of the people who make content about FF14 are ringing the alarm bells on cheating in PvP and practically begging SE to do something about it. That's no guarantee anything will be done, or how if it is, but at least the message is getting out there. The devs will at least have to address the concerns.

I don't really see why people are using Elden Ring as the comparison point when it's a bad anti-cheat implementation and not even a fully online game. A much better comparison would be something like Riot Vanguard or Blizzard Warden as those titles are always online.

I again repeat: Not all third party programs are harmful. Things like Alexander make the game playable for a decent portion of the playerbase.
