3rd party addons are against the ToS, that much is obvious. However, how is it enforceable? It's like the cops and speeding. If the sign says the limit is 55 MPH how are cops going to enforce it when everyone ignores it and drives 70 MPH? They can stop one or two going over 75+ MPH but they will never enforce the 55 limit. 3rd party addons feel the same way, so why contain it?

Nah bro, obviously those people should just buy a better PC and move to a place with better internet connection. Duh, it's that easy. /s

Real talk, appreciate the sarcasm there.

Like I understand the need to take action on cheaters n such just the most you can do is report them for the time being Unfortunately. Also with the way this game handles lag its really not a good idea to add a background scan system just to play. Idk much but looking into it thats kinda what this while thing is that would solve the problem but replace it with another.

I'd be in favor of an active pvp GM team and go from there. I do not think an anti-cheat should never be an option. The issues with stuff that detect cooldowns and such are a major issue, not just the more noticable speed hacks. A GM cannot do much for the former.

The problem with a tool like XIV Alex is that while the intended outcome is acceptable, the way in which it interacts with the game client would trigger the anti-cheat in any decent implementation. The default configuration and the majority of usage is fine but there will be a few people using the same mechanism to just cheat. So what exactly are Square Enix meant to do here? In all circumstances they should know who's cheating and moderate it but given the way in which the tool functions, you'd have cheating flags again legitimate players using something we deem as harmless amongst portions of the community.

Because, unlike 3rd party add ons that have no real impact on the game outside of one's personal experience, cheats and mods for PvP are actively ruining the game mode and turning people away from something that SE spent a lot of time, effort and resources developing. If I run gshade, I get to see the game look prettier on my monitor but it doesn't impact you at all. If I run a damage parser, I get to see my numbers and it doesn't impact you at all (unless I choose to actively force that on you). If I run some sort of speed hack or cheat mod/script in PvP, it hurts or outright ruins the game for others full stop. There's no way to use any sort of PvP mod or cheat that doesn't directly and immediately impact the experience of others.

To take the speed limit example, if someone is deciding to speed on an open stretch of highway where they're the only driver it's not really the end of the world. Sure if they crash it's going to waste police and medical service resources but they most they're going to do is kill themselves. If, however, they decide to speed through a school zone, their choice to speed is directly putting everyone else, kids, families, etc. at risk.. hence why speed limits in school zones are a lot more likely to be not only much more restrictive but also more heavily enforced.

That's a cheat software as the others:

It is only a matter of time before SE will have to take action against 3d party programs. We have armor mods, bard player, reshade for example, which all only effect the user and I can understand why SE didn't really care. We also have plugins for the auction house and Ui mods to allow reduced button bloat for example, however some of these do in fact impact gameplay, but most of the community seem okay with it. Now we have the newest line of 3rd party tools impacting pvp which very much impact gameplay... At some point SE will have to enforce their own ToS and its likely going to anger a lot of people in the process since the company let this go too far.

All SE has to do is go through the logs and see the registered time it took to execute actions in such inhumane way.

Ban the ones using it to cheat and leave the ones using it to make the game playable the heck alone.
