What is going on with Square Enix and the 14 team?

I strongly prefer the story to be unique and original. I swear I get zilart flashbacks every time I see an ascian. This expac has been the slowest I have gone through story content yet because every single thing was entirely predictable... because it all basically happened before in some form in Vana'diel.

Speaking of FFXI, I’d really like to try it again, but last time I did the combat was so slow on a starting level 1 mob that I just rage quit lol not to mention I didn’t know what I was doing. I hear it’s supposed to be better for new players now? And now you’ve got me interested in learning more about XI’s lore

Between the healer problems for 6 years being ignored, the recent Hrothgar problems where they waited patiently for 3 years and got literal shit, to the horrid job design in 6.1, the pretty controversial story of EW, to now the housing system just imploding on itself. Do the devs just not care anymore? The game is seeing it’s peak, the game is bringing in more money than ever, and yet we’re somehow getting more broken systems. I guess this is what happens when they let the popularity get to their head? They start thinking they can half ass everything and people will continue to stay and kiss up to them. Seeing this community’s history i don’t blame them for thinking that way but…my god. The game is taking such a downward spiral. At this point i’m expecting Ultimate to have some major errors and that would be the icing on the cake.

1.) Healer problems. You mean what healers specifically wanted but never got because SE did things their own way? Just because you want things your way doesn't mean you are going to get it. That's the cold harsh truth unfortunately for MMO's. I've played healer since 1.0 up until ShB. There was nothing done with healers that I felt the need to portray my feelings about.

2.) Hrothgar and Viera problems. It was known since the beginning that these were "Limited" races. And before these races were even revealed to us Yoshida said he wasn't going to make new races due to manpower/resources. But surprise. Anyways, they were limited for reasons. Player base knew they were limited but still chose to cry about it after they changed.

3.) Horrid job design for 6.1? I don't know. A majority of the player base seems fine with it. Just because you have a thread on the forum with some-hundred upvotes doesn't mean that voices the other hundred thousand to millions players. I feel like it's only a small core group of people that don't like things.

As for the other stuff - things happen. But then they fix them and they are VERY transparent on what they are doing. Which is rare for other companies.

I'm sure it's not the dev's caring anymore. You forget a few things. Pandemic was a factor throughout the work force. CBU3 is working on both FFXVI and FFXIV. They have a strict patch/update schedule. So combine the spread out work force (possibly) with the absurd japanese work culture. And yea.

But I personally don't think FFXIV is going on such a drastic down spiral like you assume.

Do not release "limited" races onto a playerbase that values customization options as much as the FFXIV playerbase does and then maybe just maybe catastrophes like the ongoing one will not occur. Release things that are complete, and can be updated over time. And for goodness sake, don't try to bring back gender-locked races only for the female version to be objectively better than the male variant.

Job design is all over the place. Scholar is the most boring job in the entire game but all healers feel lackluster. Samurai got the fun dopamine button taken away from them in exchange for: nothing! Except maybe an ability that will come in 7.0. You know, December 2023 if not January 2024.

Not even the Summoner changes caused as much uproar as what happened to Samurai, goodness. "CBU3 is working on FF16" does not excuse decisions like this one. There are players who just like they excused Blue Mage and how that ended up going nowhere, went on to excuse limited and gender-locked races, and would probably excuse gender-locked classes if they ever came about. As an ARR vet, that simply doesn't fly with me.

2)Then don’t fucking make them? If you. any spare the resources don’t make them! It’s that simple. The fact Hrothgar had to PAY just to change hairs is beyond ridiculous, but also, your lord and savior yoshi p also said that while they were limited, they would get race exclusive hairstyles. Well since you want to bring up all their past comments, why don’t you explain that to me? Oh wait you can’t because then you’d have to admit he lied.When you have the NA EU and JP fanbase upset over it, clearly it’s something the developers are doing wrong. We are paying customers after all.
3)A majority of the playerbase isn’t fine with it, may i ask where you’re getting your sources? Because people aren’t happy with it on here, they aren’t happy with it on reddit, and they aren’t happy with it on twitter. It’s so bad the devs themselves acknowledged they may rollback the changes in 6.2.

Please for the love of god stop using Covid as an excuse. Content was missing in ShB before covid was even a thing. The devs themselves stated they were working at 95% efficiency by latch 5.3 in ShB, and that the delays they took were specifically made to accommodate the time lost due to the pandemic. There is no excuse stop trying to flaunt that as one.

I was NOT at all told that we were a Limited Race. That was never even part of Square's official lexicon. At best what they said was that we were going to be missing some features, but that fan request could sway their mind. Which, oh, would you look at that, it did: it's called Male Viera.

And even then, what, why are you advocating so hard for incomplete and shoddy content? "We knew they were limited but chose to cry about it"? Are you serious? Is that what people did in 1.0 when they demanded for a male Miqo'te? I'm sorry to tell you honeybun, but what we knew was that we were having incomplete races due to several different factors, but that they'd get to those factors eventually. And so far? It's been a bloody mess.

Also, great use of the past tense there. "Were". Doesn't mean they always have to be, and people who actually play those races want them to reconsider. And there's absolutely no reason not to. Everyone's already proven that it's doable with not as much effort as they seem to claim. You're just grasping at straws on that one.

We know they're busy with two games, and indeed that's probably why we're getting patches in a more spaced out timeframe. But there's something called scheduling and priority setting, which is done before anything is even decided upon. And if they actually did bother to read and understand feedback like they claim to, they'd know that that's what those players want. Because that's the thing you don't get nor want to get: it's not crying, it's feedback.

You yourself don't give any valid feedback. You don't play any race that has issues. So obviously to you it's crying. But it's because of people like you that crap like this continues to be excused.

Nobody knew that Hrothgar did not have a hairstyle change option in the aesthetician until ShB was released and by then it was already too late for people who switched to Hrothgar as soon as it went live. They never mentioned that Hrothgar would be that limited. Even now people are finding out that Hrothgar could not change hairstyles and its thanks to the recent outrage.
