Also no, MMORPGS dont have a lower standard for ping quality because MOST mmos dont host their servers at the other side of the world than their customers
You're wrong there, actually. It has nothing to do with where the servers are located. MMOs generally do not process and send data as fast because they have to deal with a lot more connections at one time than a single server for say, an FPS game does. FPS games demand much better pings because of their intense nature and level of precision required. But they can do this because you only have a small number of players per server system. On an MMO, the ping threshold is higher because the action is not designed to be as intense and data transfer takes place in ticks to ease the load on the server systems, which can have thousands of connections at once.

300 ping is dreadful for an FPS game, to the point of near unplayability. However, the same is not true for an MMO. MMOs are always tolerant of higher latency than other kinds of games.

(When I played wow, my latency would usually be between 160-220ms, even though almost any FPS game I could play I would have 100ms or less.)

Before you jump to any conclusions, I fully agree that FFXIV makes a lot of unnecessary checks that hold up the UI in particular. However, I dispute your statement that MMOS don't have a lower ping standard of quality, because the fact is they do. MMOs are generally high latency by their very design- they need to be in order to be able to handle such a large number of connections. the ".3 seconds" that yoshida talks about is not really that far from normal.
