No longer want to play if I can't get a house

the housing could be better that is true, but to unsub over it is just ridiculous, you said it yourself it's a side game. you're going to ignore all the other stuff the game has added just because one aspect isn't working properly. I did not what they did with teh alliance raids in shadowbringers, I didn't quit the game over it. I'm sure something will be worked out, you just need to be patient.

I don't find unsubbing ridiculous when a company refuses to deliver an advertised feature to everyone who wants to participate in the feature. We all pay for the same thing, we should all have the same availability where EVERY feature is concerned. Some of us have been waiting for YEARS at this point to move into a larger home, and others have now been waiting for over 2 years just to get into the smallest size. The new lottery system is unfair in every way, it's bugged, and most of all it is just another cover-up for their unwillingness to devote the time and resources to getting enough server space to house every player. Yes, that is EXACTLY their job, and all we've gotten so far are excuses and distraction from the facts. They don't want to pay for the equipment they need to give us what they advertise. It is that simple, and the only thing they're going to hear at this point is the sound of subs dropping.

you overestimate your effect, people unsubbing because of housing does not make up the majority of the playerbase. You said it yourself this is not an easy fix for them, they do not have unilimited resources, if they devoted what was needed to provide what your askign then the rest of the game woudl suffer for it, and then we'd get people complaining about that, so jsut accept that the housing system is never going to be ideal. the ff14 devs have other concerns than the housing system, devoting everything to it would ruin the game!

I mean, fair. The devs can't devote all their time into housing, that's a given. But that just begs the question, what are they actually devoting their time to? Not hrothgar hair. Not Vieira hats. Not rampantly requested Spanish localisation. Not sensible job changes that don't feel like they come out of left field. Not the newest extreme, which I and many people feel is underwhelming due to it being the final boss. Not on fixing mch and nin's ping issues. Not on making tanks and Healers less mindnumbing.

They have obviously spent time on the alliance raids and the new plates. I really like those two things, I think they're great. But it seems they have devoted everything into those two things. This is kind of ruining the patch, is it not? I realise it is of course very easy for someone like me to just point out the flaws in the system, and it is obviously a lot more complex. But me and other players are gonna start thinking, “where is our money going” if they can't even figure out how to do simple random number generation for a lottery.

While I wouldn't say this has ruined the patch for me, since it's not fully out yet, I can say this patch has made a horrible first impression on me. This is the patch that is supposed to start the next era of ffxiv. And this is what we get? with the devs asking for 4 months between patches instead of the usual amount of time, it doesn't seem like the extra time they got is being put to good use. Or even any use.
