Pointing the finger and blaming those who weren’t unlucky is poor behavior, and it does nothing to actively rectify the situation. The players that won plots—either new or relocated—are not the ones at fault here. Blaming them and punishing them is not the way to go, where as re-rolling the plots that very clearly experienced the no-winners error is a much better situation. Even if I had an unsuccessful relocation, I would stand behind only re-rolling the plots with no winners. Not the entire housing ward because that will just cause even more anger.

If we want to assume, people could just point the finger at those who lost are just being salty they lost. But that won’t solve the problem, nor is it a mature response. Please pick a better response and leave ad hominem out of it.

That isn't a point at all. I am one of those winners; and like many other people have told you EVERY lottery so far was unfair. Some plots just happened to land on the zeroes that shouldn't have been included.
If you pick and choose then you're bittering more people than you're pleasing.

And if you rollback for everyone, you’re bittering everyone. Especially if they lose their original plot they relocated from (because how are the developers going to handle that), and/or lost in the second round after winning the first one.

There is no 100% fair solution here. So the developers need to decide which solution will hurt the least.

The unfortunate truth is that there are a handful of solutions they could technically employ, but absolutely none of them are capable of making everyone happy. Even in a best case scenario where they go into each individual plot to rectify things there's going to be a cloud of doubt over those who lost "legitimately" since 0 was apparently part of the pool across all plots and as such may have influenced the draw in some capacity.

You’re missing the point in what they’re saying: the people who won a house, and successfully built or relocated on their new plot, would lose any progress they made on their new home in terms of furnishing. And then it calls into question: what of the plots that were given up for relocation? How would those be handled?

It’s better to do re-rolls on the “0 is the winner!” or “There were no participants” plots versus all of them. It will cut down on the rage.

And *you're* missing the point where you are winning based on unintended code, that code shouldn't roll 0 as the winner. So it's not a win, but unintended win, in other word glitch, and they should respect the others that don't win, not just that one dude that happen to appear winning because of that glitch.

Unless there's no confirmation that relocations would be rolled-back to their original place, too there simply cannot be a rollback at all.
On the other hand there's reason to question how many of those rollback-supporters would change their tune if the shoe was on the other foot and they won ^^

You're fighting a losing battle. Most of the playerbase is very entitled.

I would hardly call it selfish when people are trying to make suggestions that decrease the amount of rage that is going to occur, and aren’t for just punishing others out of perceived spite. Some of the responses I’ve seen from those who were unfortunate are extremely hateful and spiteful towards those who managed to not get screwed over simply because they weren’t unlucky.

As you said, this is an MMO, not a single-player game. Others matter, too, and the solution picked needs to be one that will not enrage more people. There isn’t a fair solution regardless of how you look at it. I’m well aware of that. So the best that can be asked for is another “bandaid” to fix a housing system that is already a dumpster fire.

The Easiest way to handle it, is to let the transactions that succeeded stand, and re-draw on all properties with the bug.
Not re-bid, but draw from the people that had bids as of the deadline.
If you were the only one that bid, and lost to zero...you will win. If you were 1 of 10 and lost to zero, you get the fair draw as expected.

My plot did not lose to zero, and I did not win the draw, so my situation doesn't change...better luck to me next time.

I don't think it's that 0 was in the pool so much as it just voided any bids on plots in general. I don't think it would say there are no active participants as opposed to just saying the winning number.



I don't have a screenshot for the second instance as I looked around this morning to see who got affected, but I recall seeing a small house that said "The winning number was 3" that wasn't claimed yet, and is now.
