    Given that the reaction to the announced changes of 6.1, I'm not surprised the forums are full of 'internet drama and anger'. I'm no expert on what jobs want, but I imagine jobs like DRK and WHM were hoping for something more substantial to address the issues they feel are causing frictions in their play. On the other hand, the changes to SAM and NIN appear to be both unwanted and out of left field. With context/reason given that seems either disagreeable or confusing, I don't think it's surprisingly that people are upset. They're very much allowed to be upset that a job they play in a game they pay for is being changed in a way that doesn't appear to make sense.



    It's true that the Patch Notes are likely to provide more context as well as other changes which go hand-in-hand with what was stated in the Live Letter, but I find it doubtful that anything in the Patch Notes will make me feel much better about Trick Attack no longer being our 1-minute raid buff. The problem is not 'the job will be weak' or any such thing. I would just like to continue having a 1-minute raid buff. Preferably attached to Trick Attack.

    I don't feel too strongly about prepull doton, but I guess its to be expected. No optimising in ffxiv is allowed

    Balance hasn't worked out the maths yet, but the numbers seem neutral, it might even be on the buff side. We did it gang, we're worse/slightly better monk now, all the ninja mains in the closet about wanting to play monk can come out

    I think we get dance partner now since the sam changes, so thats something i guess

    Honestly tho it was complete bs that it was part of the NIN rotation in the way it was, especially since on some bosses you simply couldn't do it unless the tank pulled the boss to a totally different spot which just made things less convenient for the whole group.
    Imo they should've let us stock up on a Doton outside of combat that we could just put down as an ogcd when running in or something.

    Prepull Doton was a nice, tiny optimisation that added a little bit of skill expression into our opener (by using Aeolian vs Phantom). Wasn't hurting anybody, and the loss if the tank didn't pull into it was pretty small. In theory, it's not a huge loss by itself, but given the other changes, it feels more like kicking us while we're down.

    I just don't think that NIN alone should have such a weird thing in their opener, especially when it's inconsistent.
    Every Job should have a consistent opener imo.

    But there were other ways of solving it.

    What's wrong with having different openers for different situations? I'd love to think each job has a kit versatile enough to adapt to different fights.

    The only inconsistency was an uncooperative tank (which, fine) or a boss that couldn't be pulled into a certain space. NIN played just fine in both of these situations.

    I'll take the phantom buff over prepull doton, but the fact that ninja can't optimise mug or doton anymore means that nin doesn't have anything left to optimise. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure nins and astro are the only jobs to have anything to optimise, and losing one of those does suck. Astros better watch out, they've come for us, they will come for you
