Need to be careful thinking that it is every player making the exact same complaints. There have been players that were happy with the system then upset with the subsequent change.

Those people do not lose their options entirely. some houses will still be FCFS (unless i did misunderstand that, which then indeed would actualy be a bad thing. dedication to some degree must be rewarded), its just that in the initial release that isnt going to happen, which is a good thing. FCFS and an update at the same time is just going to be a fight of who gets through a queue faster.

FCFS ends when maintenance starts on Monday. All wards will be lottery when servers come up from maintenance on Tuesday.

We have no idea when, or even if, FCFS will return. Personally, I don't expect it to return unless wards end up with multiple vacancies for prolonged periods of time. I can see it happening on Zurvan and possibly Ravana in the latter half of 6.1 since those worlds appear to be the lowest pop among the Materia worlds. There is a chance the new EU and NA worlds being added this summer will see it depending on what happens with Materia. Some JP worlds might see it because their populations are much lower than NA/EU and their demand for houses is much lower as a result.

If you're on an existing EU or NA world, you will never see FCFS again unless SE pulls out all the stops and increases ward count in every housing district from 24 to 36 or more. Player population and demand is far too high compared to the plots per world.

I don't think SE will enable FCFS only for certain worlds or data center though as it would just confuse players. The implementation would most likely be across the board so it would probably be as and when they feel like it then they would apply the switch.

Not every world is going to have the same needs or ratios of FCs to players to houses available. I was surprised that SE stated they would vary it by world in the future but also glad to see they thought out the possible problem.

That's good to know. It would definitely come in useful in lowly populated worlds like Materia where I suspect there will still be thousands of empty plots even after one or even two rounds of lottery.
