When SE puts in new Data Centers in the summer, THAT IS YOUR BEST CHANCE TO OWN A HOUSE! You will have around 3-4 or more NEW SERVERS, with HOUSING in 5 areas.

People tend to like to live in the same cities as their friends, not on the other side of the world. Lacking a working communication system to keep in contact with your friends and only the occasional vacation to visit just isn't as satisfying.

And what's happening on Materia right now will certainly influence player perception on whether it's worth transferring just to get a house, especially when it means leaving their friends behind. So far, it's a mess. There's already a News topic on Lodestone regarding those FCs that just recently transferred to Materia that won't be purchase eligible when the lottery starts (oops, SE, you screwed up there). We still need to wait another couple of weeks to find out what the status is after the first lottery.

Honestly even if SE gives player what they want (instanced housing etc) they'll just find a new thing to dump salt on maybe like "But I have to create a party for my friends to see my house I didn't want that!"

I have bought a house multiple times now and each time made me utterly miserable when I dared to camp a placard. I have my large personal house, a small fc house (soon to be large luck willing) and I never want anyone to suffer that anxiety, rage inducing crap like I did.

I have seen people literally stream themselves using auto clicker to buy a house and no ban for them! Meanwhile my rule abiding butt spent hours of my time in abject misery to get my houses. They need to vastly increase supply.

What's important is the equal opportunity given to players to attempt it and not only for those that could stay online and click placards up to 72 hours legally or not. Just like how anyone could potentially buy a lotto draw and win big cash and not limited to people that could wait up to 72 hours at the lotto stand. Its not really a problem for not winning the lottery, just like how anyone shouldn't be complaining why they din't win the million dollar cash prize since the odds are always there.

LOL man that is forever ago. There will, likely, be posts like that after the lotto begins. It's unfortunate, but until SE finally goes forward with making some sort of housing open to all players, the lotto is still better than the RMT botters being the only way to get a plot. Which is how things are now.

The only real deterrent I can see against bots spamming it is the requirement to put the gil up front (probably not an issue for a botter) and the requirement to be a 2nd lieutenant in your FC to be able to purchase it. Not sure if bots do the FC things and I don't think boosting caps your FC rank either, so some little effort has to be put into that at least.
