OP: You presented a problem and asked SE to fix it.

Players suggested a solution that was already in the game countering your suggestion that SE has to fix it. Because sometimes players do miss things like that that are already in the game.

A better way to have presented it was:

"I thought of that as well, but then I lose out on the reason I put target lock on in the first place. I realize I'm likely in the minority of players, but wanted to suggest an alternate solution to the problem that would let me continue using target lock without the negative impact it has for me."

SE is more likely to implement the suggestion if they see others agree with it as well. Being combative to those who aren't immediately agreeing with you, isn't a good way to get others to agree with it. And it definitely isn't going to get those who don't agree with you to suddenly agree with you.
I effectively said all of those things in the original post. Several times. It's not my fault a bunch of mentors wanted to come in and try to save the day after I very clearly explained the situation. "Helping" people when they didn't ask for help doesn't make you helpful, it makes you a pest or a busybody.
"Don't use it" isn't a solution, it's ignoring what could be a useful feature. It's not a solution. You don't fix things by ignoring them. I find it highly strange just how adverse or allergic the XIV community is in regards to fixing small oddities like this, instead opting to circumvent them, simply accept the jank or rough edges, or flat out ignore them and pretend it doesn't exist.
