But what about the people who only start playing the game 9+ months later and would have liked to own it, and would take it out of their wardrobe if they could get it in there at all?

With rewards being locked to player accounts, the actual amount of reward items that exist in the system dwindle over time. You can't buy them second-hand. The people who owned them stop playing (or only ever got them as trophies) and these cool designs never see the light of day again.

When the amount of glamour available to people in the game is limited by how much the devs can produce, it seems a shame to take glamours that exist and lock them up for nobody to acquire ever again. Unlike real-world items, all the production effort goes into the initial design and copies can be produced indefinitely for no extra work or resources.

I'd be fine with them all being named "Replica Trophy Armour" or whatever, to clearly differentiate them from the genuine winners, but there are so few people using the original pieces that I don't even think there's a risk of stepping on people's bragging rights by letting others wear them.
