PvP Rewards New and Old - Why repeat past mistakes?

I mean it's PvP in FF14. I'd say I was let down but you have to have your hopes up in the first place to be let down. I'll just be blunt here, PvP in this game is pathetic and the way it's been handled over the years? Beyond pathetic. Shit we couldn't even get a second set of armor last expac or even a weapon to go with the only set of armor we got.

And no, a new small-scale map isn't going to solve the issue. You don't put a fresh coat of paint over a rotting house and call it a job well done. Tear the house down, rebuild it from the foundation up, do your god damn job.

Not remotely interested in keeping the old one's unique tbh, a lot of people would like those and I don't see why you would flip off thousands of people for the benefit of a couple hundred.

I mean, I'd be overjoyed to see them pop up again, but I was just trying to be fair to those who already earned those rewards.

Well for it to be truly competitive they would have to take care of all the cheaters first.

Anyone ever think the problem is not with the game trying new and novel approaches and it’s with FOMO itself? At what point will people look back at all the events they recycled and brought back just so people wouldn’t miss out on them and realize all those could have been new and interesting events with new rewards that got cut?

This right here is people promoting stagnation just because some glam may not be available. I missed out on some Garo gear. I made my peace with it, and I’m very sad to see it come back and have another chance at an ugly wolf mask instead of getting a new collab with something else like Elden Ring or some other anime series.

But nope, they decided to renegotiate a dead deal instead of striking a new one.

Have you considered that the alternative might not be new content but nothing at all?

It is zero additional work to re-run an old event or give people continued access to a digital item that has already been designed and added to the game. They can afford to re-run events more easily and often than they can make new ones, and they can repeat them on whatever schedule they like.

When they do bring back things like the FFXV event, it doesn't displace new content but provides the "end-of-patch dead period" entertainment in place of the usual moogle tomestone collectathon.

It's a completely new game mode, three completely new maps, a complete rework of all available jobs, a complete rework of the reward structure, additions to the current ranking structure for improved matchmaking... which part of that is "halfassed"?
