    They do not exsist.

FFXIV is the only MMO that is actually trying to turn crafting into a Part of the game and not just a list you click on. When your the first one to put any real effort in to something, it takes time to fine tune it.

No one in this forum can say that crafting is moving in the wrong direction. You would lose all credibility.

It is now faster, simpler, and more engaging. How many Patches did it take to fix the combat system? 8?
theres also the fact that some people who think that puzzles would be "funner" dont take into account they will also be more tedious and annoying and will probly turn more people off to crafting then onto it

this isnt puzzle pirates, the crafting needs to be simple, if that makes it boring to some people so be in, there is no way to win everyone over anyway as some people will hate it regardless

OMG are you saying that instead of spamming standard, I should be spamming Careful? That's where the fun was all this time?

    Who'da thunkit.

    this isnt puzzle pirates
Everyone Crafts in Puzzle Pirates. Because it's fun... and because you can work together... and because it's fun.

No one crafts in FFXIV "because it's fun".

There are literally a million different ways crafting could be made fun. Increasing xp gain isn't one of them, it just alleviates the pain. The sliding puzzle idea came to me in like 5 seconds of thinking about it, being game developers, SE can come up with something better than what we have now. Really, almost anything would do.

Kool I'm just gathering Info. I'm trying to like crafting and this is a big improvment over XI's system.
My big thing is the time sink. I spent way too much time on XI and it put a strain on my marriage before.
even though my wife played XI it still was a problem I spent the kind of time I spent on that game.
so far this game has been very good with the time sink except for crafting and it does look like it's
    getting better.

    something like this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliding_puzzle
"Some sort of puzzle game" is not a fix for this problem.

It would make it 10x worse.

Just think for a a minute, what it would be like to play the same puzzle over and over again just to level up. Then you would have to do it again any time you wanted an item. Worse than that, every recipe would have to have a specific puzzle for it just to ensure that the Skill level required did not vary every time you made the item. You would end up with two scenarios to choose from.

Every puzzle is posted step by step online and instead of solving it, you just follow it step by step.
    -or-
Every puzzle is random and you have to re-figure it out every time you wanna make the same item.

time sinks, yeah, thats unfortunately what all these games equate to, and what will seperate them from single player console games

it takes effort, but youll find a nice balance, dont feel rushed to do things and youll usualy find it more enjoyable and youll have more time for real life stuff without making that end suffer

and then you got those women who just dont want you to play at all and ther is no compromise, cant win there unfortunately

i have been 50 in everything for a while, but i do hear alot from those leveling, especialy in my shell since its rather large, so usualy its not my opinion i give but that of which i hear when it comes to leveling things since everything i did was under the old system

The only thing that bothers me now is they made xp way to easy to get.

My biggest problem with the crafting system is there is no "off" button for the mini-game. I really do enjoy the mini-game when I'm trying for HQs (it really is a lot better after the patch), but sometimes you just want to craft NQ items that are at or above your crafting level. I really detest having to mash normal/wait commands in order to hopefully craft the item successfully, only to have it break with 0 durability & 100% completion.

I would like an option to where if you've successfully crafted the item once, you can choose to craft without the ability to increase the quality of the item. I understand the use of "Hasty Hands" but that's really for lower level synthing with a high level crafting job. It's silly and pointless to cut your durability in half with 1 unsuccessful hasty hands. I like the concept of it, but it just doesn't work with recipes that are at or above your current level.

I feel it would balance out the system as it currently is, because you are giving up the free exp bonuses for more rapid production. It would be 100% optional, and not defaulted but it would definitely save my wrist from getting carpal tunnel!

i still stand by the train of thought this is going to lead to us having a huge exp curve when we get a cap raise
im talking 200k at 51....after all why adjust the exp gains when you can just adjust the exp cap itself(making it easy to get to 50 sure, but after that more work will have to be done)
