That fight has been easy since the day it come out and it old content it not supposed to be hard.

Mainly because people do the fight with ilv270 tome gear even after synced, while the average item level requirement is 142. It is like you doing side quests up to lv100 and go back to bully a lv30 boss. Also potency increase and skill changes as expansion go contribute to making the fight go down much quicker.
Story-progression trial is not supposed to be hard. They can cause a few wipes upon release, but you will quickly pick up the mechanic and be done with the fight in less than 30 minutes. And skill changes, item level just makes the fight even easier.
A solution is running min-level no-echo so that your party's strength is as weak as possible, or wait for SE to add 8-man Trust, which will likely run at min-ilv and have sub-par rotation, thus making the fight last longer. Either way, skill changes will continue to a huge impact on the difficulty of the fight.

Except Thordan on normal mode was literally never a challenge. Shinryu and Hades were actually worthwhile fights to cap off their expansions, then got easier with gear inflation, but Thordan was always an anticlimax. And now the others still feel like you have to at least pay attention and do mechanics, while Thordan cannot actually kill someone unless they're deliberately trying to die. And even then it's still unlikely unless half of their gear is broken too. (Or doing a blue mage run and kill themselves, but that hardly counts.)Mainly because people do the fight with ilv270 tome gear even after synced, while the average item level requirement is 142. Min iLv doesnt make it any harder than being a faceroll. Ive SOLOed the fight at Lv60, with gear LOWER than min iLv. And this was many years ago, before changes that made jobs stronger.
