Lost Ark is at the very least f2p and doesnt require a sub.

You write this like it's a positive, but it's not. Sub-based MMOs have without exception always been the most successful formula for MMOs. The sub ensures steady income for the developers and guarantees that the game will not become P2W and be riddled with unending grind unless you pay while the only upgrades you get are to the massive in-game cash shop.

F2P is a terrible model for any quality MMO, and these games always degenerate within a few years time. Not a single memorable F2P MMO exists.

Yet even with it being a sub based mmo i continue to see downgrades and a lack of improvements with specific aspects of 14. My point however was moreso about companies wanting to make as much money as possible, sub based mmo’s are a good example of this.

I don't think anyone's really doubting that gaming companies are in it to make money. There's not really a debate to be had there. It simply is.

Do you guys even ever pause to consider whether you should be talking about a game despite having no knowledge of it? LA is a theme park MMO. There are a lot of issues with LA but the rabid fervent barking is just sad and reeks of insecurity.

I was rooting for it, as I do with just about every new MMO. Like I said before, I WANT there to be competition. I just don't have any expectations at this point, and there is a long line of MMOs who have tried and failed. There's quite a precedent already set.

FFXIV is a far better game now than it was in ARR. The game constantly brings in new players and is better than ever. However, the game does need an engine upgrade to deal with certain limitations.

Yoshi P literally gave us 21 days free and suspended further sales. Such a move is pretty much unprescedented in gaming history. Yet, somehow, you're here complaining about money-grabbing in a game that has consistently delivered quality content for 8 years straight. To even compare this game to F2P MMOs with highly predatory in-game cash shops and no other content than mindless grind is missing the mark pretty hard. Every single good MMO in 2022 is sub-based or B2P. End of story.
