what is that mentality ....
No its not okay to only be able to bis one or two job per patch cycle. WHAT THE HELL jesus christ ... there is 19 jobs in this game rn i want to experience the raid tier with the most job possible and i'm sure that is the case for a lot of people ... that is why people are not playing the game anymore after they are done clearing and gear up their main job THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO because they are stuck with their main for literally MONTHSI think gearing is fine. As a raid tier progress more sources of gear are available. 24 Raids, new extreme weaposn and crafted gear probably will have an upgrade using regular tomes. Having enough gear to comfortable clear any kind of content is there so there is no artificial gate. Having the ability to only BIS one or two classes per patch cycle I say it's ok.
Also, gear has three uses:
- Glamour.
- Soft nerf of the hardest content for those players that need extra stats (nothing wrong with this).
- Ultimate if current raid tier happen to have it.
I don't know, FFXIV it's an MMO so I think it's ok to have long term goals. Also just because one char can be everything that does not mean every single class should feel like a main.
Doing the same dungeons/trial/roulette( ARR/HW/SB ) over 19 months isn't content. While I think that "maybe" people would complain about stuff if they could gear up so fast. Realistically if you it took a month to fully deck out a class. There is 19 classes to level up and gear up so 19 months worth of content to do. that's a little over a year. Plus there are other things to do like mount farming etc. So I don't think there isn't something you could run out of honestly
Mount Farming? can't use them on cities, dungeons, raids etc. They are extremely limited so most people don't even care (like me)
It's the mentality someone gets when they realize the pattern that the dev team has been using since HW, lol. Besides, after they homogenized classes to the point where many of them lose what's unique about them what would gear options do? Varied gear only works when you have varied builds. You are not going to come across a pld who can heal consistently or a brd who specializes in buffing the party so why make armor that breaks the mold? This is why I don't want to them to touch Puppetmaster. That was one of my favorite classes in XI due to how versatile they are, I don't want XIV's team to go full blu on my pup.

Said it in another thread.
But personally think gearing up is fine. While the game is designed around the idea of being able to level up multiple jobs, raiding and end game gearing is designed around the idea of a focal main. You choosing to gear up multiple roles at the SAME time is a YOU choice and one you CHOOSE to actively participate in. If raiding/tomestones are too slow that's what the crafted gear is for. I don't see the problem.
Gear becomes outdated, and eventually fully unlocks well before that. While I think that "maybe" people would complain about stuff if they could gear up so fast. Again, BiS is optional content.
There are 2 ways to increase dps: better gear and player skill
Fights are designed to be beaten at min ilvl... in theory, BiS just makes fights faster and easier, it's not a requirement for clearing.
Chasing BiS is essentially another form of glamour at the end of the day, as an improvement in gear =/= an in improvement in player skill.
However, an improvement in player skill will allow clears at lower ilvl without being BiS.
I'm sorry i'm just gonna say this but you probably don't raid at all or never cleared a full raid tier within a 1 month.Said it in another thread.

Just because you don’t like doing it doesn’t mean it is not content.
Ah, dismissal from an authoritative raider.
So in short no argument. Good talk.
My point stands. Raiding and end game gearing is designed from a focal main perspective, choosing to chase every cat in the herd you're trying to corral will get you no where.
