a trapper class?
a trapper class?
Gambler (GMB)Assuming S.E continues developing jobs per expac and now Reaper filled a Maiming slot, what's the next job that could fill the Scouting slot? If we're going by what already exist in the Final Fantasy series, canoneer, hunter, juggler or trickster could potentially fill that role (although the first two feel way too close to machinist and bard/archer respectively). Of course, there's always creating a completely original job but what would it do?
What do you guys think?
Weapon: Whip + offhand Trick (Darts, Cards, Dice...) - but just for the looks, like the others, this wouldn't be an actual offhand item
The first medium range job, which its autoattacks and basic "melee" rotation allow them to be a bit further than the other melees.
Heavy RNG job, however the RNG doesn't dictate your dps numbers, but rather different rotations and gameplay - how those numbers are executed.
High skill ceiling job, but accessible on a floor level.

I believe there is a miscommunication here.
Ninja is currently the sole Scouting job we have.
Ninja is a melee job, so it stands to reason all scouting job in the future will also be melee.
Dancer is not a scouting job, but a ranged physical job currently in the Aiming group, along side Machinist & Bard.
This is proven by the fact that gear is specifically designed to accommodate each role & Archer/ Bard, Machinist, & Dancer no longer using the same gear as Ninja post 50.
As it breaks down...
Scouting -
1: Ninja
Aiming -
1: Archer/ Bard (counted as one due to job stone necessity for job continuation)
2: Machinist
3: Dancer
As of right now what is needed is another Scouting job & another Caster (Ranged magic).

"Nemo me impune lacessit."
I'm not sure it does. There is nothing in game that says that scouting jobs always have to be melee. It's true that, so far, all jobs that share left-sided gears are placed in the same role, but that was also true for accessories until they made Ninja. They could do the same thing and make another exception with the next scouting job being ranged physical.
Except the current role quest specifically separate Physical ranged from Melee roles. Similarly the one Scouting job is placed along side the other melee jobs, therefore placing Scouting squarely in the melee camp.I'm not sure it does. The whole reason i had to level & tolerate the ridiculous Machinist job animations was because of that split of the role quest.
At this point i just want a scouting job that isn't tied to a eastern thematic.

Not necessarily. That just tells us that ninja is a melee job.
If they had hypothetically assigned dancer to Scouting but still kept it designated as a ranged DPS, it would be grouped with the ranged DPS quests while ninja would still be grouped with the melee.
And I do think that dancer should have been Scouting. Both dancer and ninja are nimble, fast-moving fighters who shift between close quarters and ranged fighting, and they fight using bladed weapons. In some other FFs, chakrams are even designated as thief/ninja weapons.
Meanwhile the two "definitely Aiming" jobs, bard and machinist, fight exclusively at range (at most approaching the edge of a pack of enemies to use their AOE skills) and use projectile weapons.
It seems far more logical to me to have grouped dancer with ninja, especially given the gear situation.
Agree with you here. The DNC here could be implied to be a job that uses dancing as a disguise to do espionage and spying. Hence scoutingNot necessarily. That just tells us that ninja is a melee job.

Only because Ninja, a melee job, is the only scouting job right now. Create a ranged physical scouting job and that job can go with their appropriate role quest. Scouting does not need to be limited to melee.
