ok but my dad works at nintendo2 of my closest friends are digital artists (one full time, one part). They did create a market for their work prior to NFT's but it was not a large one. They had to use closed forums for their work and do work based off commission. Nowadays things are much easier for them. They have their supporters go to their page and see their list of NFT's and they list them on various marketplaces. Their lives have improved dramatically.
edit: wait didnt you say it was impossible for artists to market their work before nfts? grats to your friends for defying reality

Prior to NFT's the full time artist was struggling. He put in a lot of work for very little return. He was mostly selling to small community of fans. He is by no ways rich now but he is stable and able to reach many more people. There is an actual market for his work now.
Would it be fair to counter your friends anecdotal lived experience with my own? Or would that just be appealing to emotion rather than actual dataPrior to NFT's the full time artist was struggling. Ha, that's fair. NFT's are not the solve all solution for digital artists. There is lots of work that needs to be done on that front. If you have experience creating an NFT marketplace for your work then that would be interesting to hear.
