It still doesn't affect you. Except if you're a puritan that don't want anything that can be perceived as remotely sexual in your life, but the social media perception of the game is SE's problem, not yours.Oh, it sure does affect all of us. Certain twitter accounts and discords are full of screenshots that make this game look like it's some sex club with all kinds of modifications. Those screenshots get out there and even on certain live twitch streams.
And it's even players that are afraid of other players with heavy mods installed attach a "dong" on their female characters that could easy be posted online on certain community's.
We all players did Agree to this.
Pretty much, those in my life who mod just like staring at themselves ahaha. I'm sure people who perv like that exist in the game but it's definitely not the large majority. The vast majority of people that use mods in this game do so to make THEIR character(s) look good. Not because they want to ogle at someone else’s character… Don’t be so vain. I can guarantee that nearly every modder out that doesn’t give a crap about your character or what they look like. Only their own.
I don't care of people using mods to change how the game look, not my problem TBH. However, since a while now we are getting certain stuff that give advatages over people not using them. We lost the ability to change markes mid fight since third party tools could do it as mechanics happens making the whole encounter easier. I don't know, "gameplay QoL" are getting out of hand on PC.Oh no, people are allowed to do things in their game that only affect them and what they see, what a tragedy
People doing things on their own computer that make them happy but don't affect anyone else shouldn't be allowed, and obviously we need to put a stop to people enjoying the game in anything but a vanilla setting
I would rather FFXIV devs give official support to addons and just "break" the ones they consider bad for the game, that or find a way to stop what we already have.
I figured you were playing a Miqote. Only a cat can do that big a stretch.@ OP
I agree, cheats and mods should not be allowed in this game, I know they can replace entire bodies with NSFW models, to say the least.
How does it affect me?. They can make my characters naked, and every other character at that; They can attach excessively large dongs to female characters and even though I wouldn't see it inside my game I know other players using such mods will be seeing what they shouldn't.
Besides that, allowing mods in this game might give the developers an excuse to "not upgrade the graphics", since others are doing half-as*ed jobs with their custom models.
Finally, on the business side, by allowing mods SE is letting players use paid optional items like Korean outfits without buying them, they just swap files and done.
I will welcome anything SE can do to avoid mods and cheating.
To me the funniest part is...The vast majority of people that use mods in this game do so to make THEIR character(s) look good. Not because they want to ogle at someone else’s character… Don’t be so vain. I can guarantee that nearly every modder out that doesn’t give a crap about your character or what they look like. Only their own.
By complaining about the "futa" (don't recommend google) mods, I know almost certainly what modding discord he's hanging out on. I'm on several, and I know which one gets the most of those pics (and before anyone says it, I block people who post it because....EWWWWWWW).
EDIT: Also, those body swap mods affect every body that uses that texture and model. So every Female Hyur and Miqo will have exactly the same changes (I forget which races share what, but it's more than you would think). Use a mod to give them a tattoo, all of them in game PC and NPC will have it. So even if someone is oggling the clowns character, it looks exactly like all the others.

There are definitely some creeps out there.
I've seen a few cases on Crystal over the years of someone using CMTool + mods to create porn of another persons character without their consent, often sending it to them afterwards as some kind of creepy overture. I've also run into a lot of modders who don't really have a filter/boundaries, and will just dump their erotic screenshots (without asking) into any discord they join. It doesn't really bother me personally as I think it's kind of funny, but I can definitely see where other people might feel grossed out.
Well those in game ones are harassment independent of modding. As for Discords, well that's an idiot, ban them. Most Discords have SFW and NSFW screenshot sections. There are definitely some creeps out there.

The discords don't usually ban people over that because it'd difficult to prove who actually owned the character. You can fantasia any time and copy anybody. Typically as long as the photo isn't thief, they permit it. Otherwise a lot of generic catgirls wouldn't be able to post any photo since most look alike and you don't own the design of a character.
