another "wahhhh mi garbage console can't do that" thread?
Wow. Once again. Not everyone can afford a good enough computer to play the game. Some just like playing on console. Should they be punished? Who makes fun of someone for playing on console? I guess the fanbase of this game is younger than other MMOs, but this is unbelievable.
But I've seen people make fun of those who have money issues. I've seen people on this forum make fun of people with mental disabilities. I've seen people on this forum make fun of people with physical disabilities. I never thought in a million years that this community would actually be worse than my previous MMO. Stunned to my core.
What a silly, melodramatic take. Why do you feel punished because you simply can't have something nice that someone else has? My brother has a better job than me, so he goes on better vacations. Am I punished by only going on my vacations? Your insistence on being the victim here is frankly embarrassing.Wow. Once again. Not everyone can afford a good enough computer to play the game. I’m waiting for one of these threads to be about Gshader.
“This is so unfair, they’re taking better screenshots than me!”
Tragic
Sadly, Square Enix will never add a simple anti-cheat software similar to VAC (when you launch a game with VAC, the game can tell whether any files have been modified and report that to Valve. It doesn't "scan" your machine, but the program does have inherent rights to verify the integrity of its own files. FFXIV doesn't have that.)I see many using the Cheat Engine so they can make their characters sit anywhere they want, even the /doze emote on surfaces. Isn't it time to implement a system so such things can't be used? Also make it so the game files can't be modified.
And if Square Enix do allow mods, then they also should open the PlayStation for using mods so it's fair for more players.
As a result, the push for add-ons will continue until we become a highly-modified game and the console version will become just a mere shadow of the "real experience". Many people already run Dalamud with several plugins that the FFXIV community has deemed "essential", like voidlist. A good portion of the in-game screenshots you find on Twitter and elsewhere are unachievable with in-game models and shaders. Parsing and log culture is an unshakeable pillar of the raiding community. People seem to love the way the game is progressing in this respect, as most users that I've seen defend this behavior.
We can only hope that all of this results in lower console version sales to such an extent that Square Enix no longer sees it as profitable to maintain it, thus cutting into their profit margins and forcing them to take a look at the issue. But that's a bit convoluted. Otherwise, the game will just become a hacked-up mess and people years from now will go "I miss vanilla FFXIV!" And they would have fully earned the disgusting state of the game. Then people will move to a new MMO and let this one die out, just like World of Warcraft. But I'm sure they will enjoy every minute they have their large breast mods and parsers until that happens.
I'd like to just say that if anyone wants to use my character for anything lewd you have my full permission.
I want my WoL to be the virtual Johnny Sins.
The menacing aura of every Lalafell.
I was able to get some of my newer crafting tools, the Pactmaker mainhands, to glamour up with Skybuilder's relic glowies- and at least for now retrieve some of the lost visual fun. Now if we can combine that with a nifty "dous" (/doze of unusual size) and get them to glow while sheathed.. voila. I'll perch anywhere with that!

If it doesn't affect you, there's no real reason to care about what other people are doing. Mods, by and large, are just there to alter aesthetics to what someone prefers without impacting others' experiences in the game. Pretty harmless.
The line for things tends to be drawn where they start to affect other players, ie: automation of gameplay, botting, speedhacking, floating characters around where they shouldn't be, etc... which, are all gameplay related.
That, and SE doesn't have the authority to "open mods" on the Playstation platform, that'd be Sony and when it comes to the extensive review process for patches to titles hosted on Playstation, it'd be such a logistical nightmare for non-developer individuals to actually do it that basically no one would, defeating the purpose entirely.
If you wanna see my char naked, go ahead.
