It would be useful, but I don't think it would work. Often times, talking to NPCs triggers cutscenes or events that would not make sense while mounted.

No thanks. It's hard enough finding a busy NPC to talk to when surrounded with players, let alone players on huge mounts

no but at least it auto dismounts you when talking to an npc, so why not when entering combat?

It also auto dismounts you when you click a gathering node.

We're talking about auto dismounting when attacking a mob here. Who the hell cares if it's "safe" if you're making the choise to attack something?
