    SHB tank role quest was good if you were a PLD or even a GNB, but for a WAR and DRK was a bunch of nonsense by someone bound to the rules instead of doing what it was right.

    DRK in concrete are keeningly aware than honor and chivalry is not worth shit if they bind you to inaction. Heck thats the very reason why DRK was born since duty and honor forbade them to act unless they had real proof of the misdeeds

    Role job stories just tell the story of someone else and when it ends try to give you some snippets of wisdom about their story. Problem is that each of those persons has a defined personality and might or might not align with you job

    I mean, I'm not sure what you expect them to do, there's only so much personality (not a lot) they can attach to your blank slate character before there starts being a weird disconnect between how you think of them vs how the game says they are. Even the few dialogue choices we get can feel "out of character" at times... though admittedly there are also moments where we can't say or do anything even though it would make sense to

    The role quests' actual context and NPCs have more asked for our particular area of skills, rather than demanded the specific type of magic or martial prowess, but I'm sure someone has said such/similar already.

    While it does suck somewhat to have your main chosen job not be the focus for a new series of quests, it also makes sense - the vast, vast majority of jobs have seen the resolution to the major problems within their stories, and inventing new issues just to have more individualized job quests again is poor for writing. It works for the new jobs because they're new, but there's more gain with the concept of the role quests they've adopted than they lost by ending the job stories where they did.

    I would like ONE long job quest chain at the max level of each expansion. So once you hit 90 for a job, someone offers you a quest for that job alone. And along the way, you get your artifact armor, a title, and a mount themed for your job.

    Then in the next expansion, you get another quest chain like this at level 100.

    I dont like the role quests, and I understand that writing so many job quests for each job is too much. So one quest line, per job, per expansion. It’s enough to make my job choice feel impactful to my characters story.

    To be honest, the role quest this time didn't really feel tied to our role.
    I only did the tank and melee dps one so far, and while they aren't bad questlines by themselves, they aren't good ROLE questlines.

    I'd space them out if I were you, they're really not that good.

    I agree. In ShB at least they did feel about our job, now they feel more like "meanwhile, in x area" and "let's explore the past of x famous npc" which is cool and all but as normal side quests, not as role quests. I understand that the final solo duty asks you to things relative to your role (I think? I only did the last one of the healer ones so far so I ahven't seen the other solo duties) but it seems like a poor substitute to job quests which actually added lore to your job and its skills.
    And the healer ones keep being ridicolous, as you're getting to heal people who are not in your party, so you can basically only use your single target heals and nothing that affects your group. As sch it was particularly annoying since not even the fairy could heal. How is this supposed to teach people how to heal in actual groups/instances/content?

    It's really difficult to develop all 18 specific jobs quest lines, this is the reason they stopped doing it. AI, dialogue, monster designs, npc designs, etc.

    In another way, the Warrior of Light has grown more powerful than any basic human individual, 20 levels is the general signal they mastered the job, and take the Soul Crystal further than any other being has, in theory the Soul crystal has no limits for evolution.
