Did the Indian government did something, due to which we are not able to login from India?

Someone within this thread found the lnternet Explorer link which is used to open the launcher. It shows up as blocked by the government under some IT act of 2000 that they enforced 21 years later on a game of all things for some reason.

Hi, I have the same issue as well.
Though I can resolved using VPN, but would like this to be fixed.

I noticed that the URL used for version check, http://patch-bootver.ffxiv.com/http/...21-12-19-03-50, seemed to be displaying something not expected by the game client.
It displayed a iframe which has the message, "The website has been blocked as per order of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under IT Act, 2000."

Actually what i realise is that you just need to use vpn to get by launcher.

Personally, I used mobile hotspot to my computer (luckily there is wifi card) or just download tunnelbear (500gb is free).

Open and on the vpn, open launcher, turn off vpn. This is what i am doing in the meantime.

I tried using VPN to start up the launcher and it worked, but I ended up uninstalling and having to reinstall the whole 73gb patch again now.
I don't know if it's Square Enix's problem or some government's problem but I hope they give some sort of clarification here or in the news section, cos I'm quite sure there are some plenty of users ending up reinstalling the whole game like I do. And tomorrow's patch day.

Utilize an FFXIV mod called FFXIV launcher. Do so at your own risk. This bypasses the official launcher completely.

I truly hope this doesn't get me banned as much as I am sure it just might. I'm not harassing anyone with this and the original problem at least for me felt unfixable.

Used 1.1.1.1 with warp as someone mentioned in above posts with repeated turning on and off and checking exe file and it worked on my mobile hotspot. I am from India too. It doesnt work on my lan connection though which is quite annoying. I hope this will work to you. I am not sure whether this will be reliable too. As others have said one launcher is open it works fine with any internet. I hope this will be fixed soon as this is 2nd time happening for me in this year.

seriously though, had to jump through hoops to get a sub up, I use ACT / BSNL to connect, which server gives better ping? i am currently on Kujata (JP) it keep fluctuating between 100ms - 280ms

I had this issue once and solved with this method that I found on Reddit:

"Go to Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\ open up FFXIV_BOOT.cfg and open it in notepad you will find BootVersionCheckMode 0, change it to 1 and save, then start the launcher and it should work."

I've found Chaos/Light to be consistently ~150. Last I checked the others they were above 200, lol.
