Supporting a game when it's garbage isn't a good thing. It's the players who didn't support 1.0 because it was garbage who forced SE to completely remake the game and create a success.

1.0 is a somewhat different case compared to other games' failures. It was objectively a mess. No amount of plausible subs for the game it was would have changed that. Those of us who did stick with the game often didn't play it too much and ALWAYS rightfully complained. I mean it was complete garbage just from a playability stance, even if the rest of it had potential. Persevering through the shit you're given is an old school MMO mentality that, while that perspective was on a massive decline, was still notably present.

Yoshi-P took over not too long after, which if I recall correctly, the ability to finally play "properly" was finally achieved following. No longer did we have to sit through massive UI lag with literally everything we did. It was still a mess, but it was a playable mess. It had content to satisfy us shit dredgers. It's important to not pretend that it's not like they didn't create content for the game. Anyone could see though that it was not going to last much longer. Which is when they started the community discussions between Yoshi-P and the devs with players. It was little things being done that sparked hope that kept us there, which is then when the 2.0 rumors and announcements came.

As a legacy player, I find such a thing as unnecessary. If I wanted to flaunt entitlement, it wouldn't be any of the in game vanity or some petty jump in the queue. It'd be the fact I pay only 2/3 the sub fee for the rest of the games life that others pay in full for.

It's not about entitlement at all. It's about taking care of the players who supported them since the beginning when it was rough. The reduced monthly rate is great. A priority queue is nothing to fathom out the mouth about. The amount of legacy players spread across all servers is most likely very, very miniscule.

Legacy players have received more than they "deserve". You deserve to pay less and also get queue priority? Please. You aren't special. Get over yourself. Woopdee-doo, you kept paying money for a bad game. What a hero.

Wrong. The game being garbage in general was what forced them to fire the current head and replace them with Yoshi who re-made the game. This was realized even with people still playing the game and supporting it. Not the people who left.

2k queue at prime time on Siren and no 2002 crash so far so I have to wonder if they solved a backend issue. Could just be early maintenance copium but this is a better experience.

2002 was fairly random, but it is possible they did change something already. Personally, I rarely encountered it for queues below 4K. If they did occur in that "low" range, it happened well over an hour into the wait.

Fellow Legacy here. I could go either way on a priority queue. I've beat Endwalker and am BiS so do whatever lol

New to the game, and I will be honest...for years I was extremely put off when I would come into contact with the near cult-like "loyalty" of FFXIV fans at times.

However, only being here a few weeks and doing some research on the team with this game, the history and along with seeing what is damn near "honorable" decisions and pretty awesome communication with the fan base in a MMO context I can see the reason for it. The art style and aesthetics were really not my thing, but giving it a legitimate chance and seeing the game systems and dev/playerbase interaction I really wish I would have dropped my prejudices about the anime aesthetics years ago. Im not sure if Square Enix impresses me, they have annoyed me with other titles to a point of apprehension. I do think Yoshi P. appears to be the guy who makes this shine.

There is good reason for the flood of new players.
