Postpone Patch 6.05 - The Hardest Thing to Say

Before anyone goes full anger hate, take a moment to read this.

In all honesty, the queues as they are have uncapped tomes, no raiding content, and simply people trying to level. We're hitting 4,000; 5,000; 6,000 queues.

Login queue times will increase to borderline game-breaking levels when there's raid and savage content.

It's not easy for me to say "delay content" and nobody wants to hear it -- especially me as a raider -- but realistically, this problem will only get worse with the 6.05 patch.

I think it's time to seriously consider applying appropriate fixes not yet offered before attempting to move on to new content.

Raiding groups will suffer immensely if they can't log in. A lot of people are going to get even more frustrated if they're obligated to a static and required to be online at a specific time. 8 people, 8 different lives, all spending hours to be online at the same time pending jobs.

I’ve been sayin this for a week now , it sucks but it Needs to be delayed. Team players unable to log in to uphold our teams scheduled raid times will be a major issue for ALL raid teams.

And it TOTALLY sucks to even have to say it.

    But it's true.

I agree, until enough additional player capacity is added so that queues become sensible during prime time hours, Patch 6.05 Content should be delayed.

Totally agreed, I know many who start with EA on day 1, and still not finished MSQ.

Queues aren't as bad as they are, at least on Midgardsormr... I logged in a couple minutes ago to 2.2k, instead of the 4.9k that it was last week.

But I very much agree. The moment new stuff comes out, the queues are going to be just as bad.

However, business minded as Square is, I highly doubt they'll do so unless they think their bottom line will take a hit.

If you want them to make the appropriate fixes then you'll be waiting a while, and I don't mean a couple of weeks.

Speaking of MSQ, I already got Spoiler Bombed in Old Sharlayan numerous times by random players chatting /yell sometimes even at 3AM PST in morning. It's too late, can't unsee that stuff after it fills the chat windows numerous times. I'm not done with MSQ yet but it's no longer as exciting anymore.

Stopping content won't provide Servers for the game, nor will it cause the shortage of circuits to arrive any faster, all you are doing is depriving content for anyone that can come in.

For raiding Content - World First Race isn't a developer driven factor here and the Raids will still be relevant for about six months before the next tier comes in. So I'm struggling to see the relevance of depriving other people from accessing the game because of the population issue, at least in comparison to the wider scope of players who are not extreme hardcore raiders who are pressing for worlds first.

But, I do understand that we need to appeal to all walks of life within FFXIV and accommodate where possible.

So I have a pointed question for you - just how long of a delay do you think would be acceptable? By your own admission, interest will spike again, recreating this very problem, once raiding comes out, regardless of interest now. And we are months, not weeks, out from having any tangible permanent solution to the population surge issue.

We're probably still a few weeks to a month out before story interest dies down and people play the game less frequently, especially for EU who are the most hit. Do you truely feel that delaying the content of the game a month back is a wise thing to do at this juncture, and what of the longer term consequences of our population strike? Are we to delay each time we have a surge until new servers come out?

We're likely waiting until 6.1 or later for any sort of solution that will have a meaningful impact - so any decision made on this has to keep the wider impact in mind, which is where I am struggling. Just where would we strike balance in this situation without harming the larger base for the sake of one facet of it?

Honestly, when I logged in on release day, the first thing I did was disable almost every single possible thing in my chatbox as a precautionary measure against spoilers -- even /tell. I told friends that if they wanted to ping me to run stuff, until I was done MSQ they'd need to ping me on Discord.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.
