I hope OP, that you're able to work on what triggers your anxiety, because games are meant to be fun, and having anxiety problems myself, I can see how this would effect a person.

Best of luck, and Happy Adventures!
I've learned, from my own experience, therapy and what my friends have told me, that the best way to get over anxiety is to expose yourself to the things that make you anxious until you realize that there's nothing to be anxious about, that once you conquer that fear, it cannot inhibit you anymore
so I disagree, sarcastic remarks like grow up and whatnot can be helpful because you cannot always run from your demons, sometimes you have to face and fight them

I say this was someone who used to have severe social anxiety, who was worried about what people will think about me, what I wear, how I behave and so on until my therapist went to the city with me and made me ask people stupid or obvious things - or directions for places I'm standing right next to
that sole day pretty much eradicated my social anxiety, because it hammered down that 99,9% of people do not care, even if you're being stupid on purpose like me, even 'help' you nicely

Same. You know what I learned over the years, that the fear is always much worse than the situation at hand and nothing worse than that than realize you wasted so many of your years enslaved to fear and you miss out on so much in life. That being said, I don't think many people realize how hard it is when you have an anxiety disorder and there are a lot of people are just ignorant people who have never been through it.

OP I think you should try and be more verbal, if I ever roleplay it is only around friends but to tell people not to do it, in dungeons is not right imo. This is a roleplaying game if you do not want to take part in it, that is fine. But to come on the forums and tell people not to, is not yours to request unless they are being overly pushy, in which a simple "Hey, not interested, just want to get out of here".

Absolutely Rinhi. Making excuses for anxiety and not dealing with it just leads to more anxiety.

Yeah this? THIS is an issue. What the OP is describing however, is not.

I roleplay now for like 14 years, every week. Multiple hours with friends and often with strangers in open events and also play tabletop rpgs. Just cause it is labeled as a rpg doesn't mean you can force your idea of an rpg on other players, on common ground you have to be neutral. It's the same as if a glamour maniac just goes out of his way and whispers to you how you can improve your glamour and sends you messages for this for hours. Or a person that found the meaning of life in housing entering your home and lecturing you about feng shui. Most people don't want to deal with that so don't be rude to strangers by forcing your ideals on them.

And i can say, among all serious roleplayers out there this what OP described is basically a No-Go in our scene and even we like it when we get quick through the dungeons. We don't force what we enjoy onto others, especially with strangers.

If you want to go through a dungeon in character find yourself a group for it and don't just be impolite towards other players.
lol okay. Again, if someone doesn’t want to interact with other people, especially people who may be role playing, then perhaps playing a massively multiplayer online *role playing* game isn’t the right choice.

I never role play because I think it’s weird, but I understand that I have no right to ask others not to do it in this game (to the extent that they’re not violating the ToS); what the OP described was in no way “harassment” nor violated the ToS. If basic human interaction causes anxiety, then perhaps a single-player game would be more fitting.

I think at this point, and I mean no harm telling you this, the bigger problem is your anxiety. The fact that such a trivial thing makes you feel that way is concerning. I hope you're well, and you're able to deal with stuff like that in the future.

I'm sorry but I don't really agree with you here, OP. I sympathize with your anxiety, but there are tools at your disposal to mitigate or remove the problem.

    1) The obvious solution, which you admitted not wanting to do, was just politely to ask them to stop. 99% of this playerbase would've responded with, "Oh, sorry! Didn't realize it was affecting you that way. We'll stop."
    2) Moved your chatbox to a different tab, hiding all social banter and/or emote spam from the chat box.
    3) Minimizing the chat window or decreasing its size until you could no longer see the chat logs to even know what the other players were doing.

If the only thing going wrong in this dungeon run was this RP'ing issue, and mechanics were being done while the pace was normal and not lagging behind to be detrimental to the others not partaking in this RP, then I apologize but it is an unrealistic ask to address an entire community of players, in this case the RP community, to conform around you and cater specifically to you, especially when you made no clear indication to them to stop. This is a selfish ask, and honestly, not a way to help better your struggling issue of anxiety. I do hope you can get the assistance and support you need with your issue.

When you want to rp in a dungeon go in as 4 people, don't force your weirdness on other people.
If you rp with me when I haven't agreed to it I will be extremely blunt, and I have very bad anxiety.
I would probably just leave though.
I've run into a few rp'ers myself and it felt like I was talking to a wall.

lol I remember this tank acting like a soldier though out the entire dungeon, I just went replied" lol"

I don't RP and I just find RPing with random people in duty finder to be annoying

I just want to my duty as a white mage, get reward and leave, don't make dungons longer than it has to be.

Playing WoW and running silent dungeons made me wish I was back in XIV where dungeons were fun and people actually spoke. So when I finally came back a year or so ago to find that it wasn't that way anymore, that maybe you will get a O/ and usually not even that, it bummed me out. You had some people who wanted to RP, and instead of making a comment that you didn't really want to, you decide to come to the forums and moan about it. This game turns into WoW more and more as each day passes, while I'm glad that the influx of WoW players has helped this game, I can see the flavor of that community creeping in.
