The first is certainly questionable, but the latter...?
The damage we used to get from our rush wasn't removed so much as just put into the rest of our kit, meaning that we're now free to use our gap-closer as a gap-closer instead of RoF padding AND we can now use it allies. Not a bad deal at all.

While true, it does mean that we have less oGCDs to weave into our rotation, which slows the feel of the class considerably. Throw in that we still have near useless skills like Anataman and it really feels like MNK changes were half baked at best. The first is certainly questionable, but the latter...?

It´s way better if gapclosers are meant to be gapclosers instead of being "damage-skills". It´s not like in other games where they´re GCD´s with some ressource or CC. So far Thunderclap IS a oGCD now you use at any needed time.
I don´t get why potencies are still on other gapclosers. While WAR can have some stacks without a burstwindow and SAM just don´t want to use it in the core rotation, it´s just so much wasted movement on other classes for no reason. It´s not even "think about it when to use", you want to use them every 120s.
I agree. Shoulder tackle doing damage was fun, it had 2 stocks so it was mentally engaging to dump 1 for damage while holding onto the other 1 in case you actually need it for the gapclosing part. Thunderclap stinks, the animation is sick but taking the time to target somebody for your mobility works better on BLM where it belongs, since they can select who they want to tele to while they're casting.
I played around with MNK again last night and while positionals are the most obvious thing I miss, the loss of basically 3 oGCDs (and the gain of only one, the self-haste buffer) really feels like it slows things down and makes it less interesting. I'll be sticking to NIN or possibly giving DRG or RPR a whirl until something changes for the better.
It's 2 actions per minute. The increase in Chakra generation technically already outstrips that for me via TFC/EnL.
Yes, I'll agree that there are awkward hold-overs like the current Anatman and RoE having an action limit... on a damned defensive(?!), but I'm quite glad to have my gap-closer be usable outside of RoF and now allow Aetherial Manipulation-style escapes.
We'd never had reason to use it pre-pull between HW and Shadowbringers, since we already had Form Shift after 52. Now, however, we do, as it'd be a way to make up for PB's 40s CD compared against RoF's 60.
