People are already dictating how you are allowed to play the game.

Botters and afkers have dictated that you are not allowed to play the game by using exploits and 3rd party programs to keep you out.

What other option do you propose since Square Enix is not showing any intentions of upgrading their servers any time soon?

I've never had my time in game limited by bots and afkers.

The solution until they get it worked out is to wait. It's the same with every major MMO release. That's all you can do. They at least gave you extra sub time and promise more if there are still issues in a week. Blizz didn't do that for Vanilla Classic.

Which I'm not currently able to enjoy regardless due to the problem not being fixed. 7 free days of not being able to play does not compensate for 7 paid days in which I was not able to play.

An extra week was added to your sub time so not while it's ticking away.

And everyone is in the same boat with you. Angering more players is not a solution.
