Baffling behavior

What I don’t understand is OP said many pages back that he finished the dungeon and it was all fine. He said he isn’t looking for pointers/tips and he’s tanking just fine. Why don’t you guys lay off and find something better to do with your time than continuing to harass this poor guy.

All he did was vent a little frustration like we all do at times. Rather right or wrong, you vets are being so nasty and cruel. Leave this guy alone and let him have fun and learn.

You vets should all be ashamed.

P.S. OP I am so sorry you have been treated this way. These few bad apples aren’t a representation on most of the ffxiv community I assure you. You didn’t ask for peoples tips but they just went in on you. Disgusting. If I were you I’d stop responding because the more you respond the more they will keep going. Just let this thread die. Hell I just checked your profile, you're level 79 in full augmented Scaeven gear you literally learned nothing.

400 ilvl to 416 ilvl isn't a huge jump and isn't half as important as people are making it out to be, to be honest, you can still easily w2w mt. gulg with it

Thing is it's way more important for the lvl 60 to 69 area where your total armor as a tank skyrocket, they nerfed that for shadowbringer and i'm pretty sure that's because of ppl like the op.
If you take the crafted body ilvl 265 HQ item lvl 62 you get 478 armor and magic defense which is roughly the lvl 270 60 blue gear you get with tomestomes.
If you look at the ilvl 285 which is only 20 more ilvl and lvl 68 HQ body you get : 804/804, it's almost the double and that's only 6 level appart from each other.
That was the big problem and why everyone said he was undergeared, armor for tank at this level is needed more than anywhere else, and that's why he got melted with his ilvl 270 gear.
Plus what he said about using CDs after he already got hit and taking full damage, no wonder it was a disaster.

Mind you, it wasnt 3 mobs or groups. It was 3 dudes. Not 3 sets of 3 or 4 guys. Just 3. In the span of 2 seconds, my life gets melted, healer was just negligent. Im glad im not crazy and many others here understand that healers can just be bad.

Yes, dieing in 2 seconds to a single pull is 'fine'.

The classic undergeared tank who blames the healer for their own negligence. If I had to heal you, I'd vote kick you. Why? Wiping to normal mobs because people can't bother to gear themselves in the bare minimum hinders a party. Can't heal a tank who can't even survive ONE normal, single pull without almost dying. Even blowing through all my GCDs wouldn't keep you alive.

I looked at this thread days ago, and the OP had the wrong type of accessories on to sneak their way through min ilvl.

This exact scenario happened to me last night on Thanksgiving for leveling roulette. Got Mt Gulg, no problem right? Wrong. Tank was doing double pulls, but their gear was crap. Not in all Augusted i400. No, mix of i400 with 370 or lower. Dunno how they cheesed the min ilvl, but it's exploitable. I couldn't keep up, asked to do small pulls because their gear wasn't suitable for it. Argued it was my fault, an overgeared level 80 AST, who 'couldn't keep up'. Even blowing through all my GCDs couldn't keep this guy alive.

I left and ate the penalty; I'm not dealing with people who can't do the bare minimum of at least gearing themselves. Like, OP is a prime example of what some healers have to deal with. Half of the time it's the undergeared tank's fault for not keeping up to date on their own selves.

If an overgeared level 80 AST can't keep your butt alive, and going through all their GCDs trying to do so?
FOR A SINGLE, NORMAL PULL.
NOT wall-to-wall, mind you.

If either isn't pulling their weight, it makes them both look bad. I've been the tank who watches their health very slowly dip as the healer kinda stands there, apparently unsure which of their shiny buttons makes the healthbar go up (or insists on Cure I spam) and I've been the healer frantically blowing all their CDs to keep the undergeared tank alive that can't be bothered to use a single mitigation ability, yet insists on making big pulls they can barely control, because pushing AoE buttons is hard.

Posts like OP's just rub me the wrong way. It reminds me of all those bad experiences I've had with people who can't be bothered to even try doing the bare minimum. A good tank/healer is such a thing of beauty and they are my favorite roles to play, so I wish I'd get to experience it more often.

When a tank gets melted so fast they dont have even time to even press a button, i can be 100% certain that healer cant either. In that case no matter how good or bad the healer might be, the fault lies in the tank for wearing paper armor and not even using defensive cds pre pull if they know their equipment sucks ass.

It is possible to complete a run with a tank like that? Yes
It is a pain in the rear to carry someone like that and they can be easily given the boot instead for not putting effort because even DPS jobs last longer tanking? Also yes

yeah, and this advise show you barely read the thread at all. Here is the real advise you should give him: next time he wants to vent, he should formally request "only people agree with me are welcome to post", then ... maybe people would stay off his thread, I know I would. But making a post in an open forum means to ellicit response, and if you're the type who can not handle disagreement, you're in for a bad time. And it has zero with the "community". Seriously that line make me cringes. The FF14 community is just one of many, it's neither better or worse than the average. Generally if you're a simple player looking to have fun, it's a decent place to be. It's the attention seeker, drama queen and ... in your case - pretender that tend to have a problem with stuffs they self-invented.
