    Yeah thats an actual problem for me, i mean im going for Reaper too while i keep to try to support any thread that aim to get love on DRK but going in to Reaper means not being able to raid with my current friends since DPS spots are covered and none want to move, neither i wanted to leave they fav jobs for me so i will have to find a new static if im in the mood for it, not really into any of the other tanks for another 2 freaking more years, that weathering me to much already, extra feels bad ^^

    Well at least i could say i enjoy most of the stuff showed in the last letter, the reward of PVP, the viera hairstyles even if they are current ones and the trailer music give chills on the second half, everything is not excesively bad at the end, i will looking forward to that at least.

    Hopefully Reaper will make this a bit of a wake up call and SE realizes how much the job's popularity is carried by aesthetic alone. I've heard so many people grumble about "it's dumb DRK is a tank, ugh" coming into HW, but force themselves to get into the role anyway because big edgy swordsman. Which isn't a bad thing, having a good poster-boy job that encourages people to try tanking. But a lot of those people might just not care about DRK now that there's a job that has a very similar look to it and doesn't force them to get out of their comfort zone.

    How is it that we have Jobs like PLD and WAR which are fun to play and then there's DRK which is basically a bastard child between the two and it's just awful?

    I have a stupid, sentimental sense of job loyalty, so I'm probably gonna go through story as DRK, confirm my suspicions about how unsatisfying it is to play, then play... Pretty much anything else. I'll probably jump onto dpsing, reaper, Monk, and SMN look like fun
    We're probably not gonna see any changes til 7.2, and that's the absolute earliest.

    I think that for a change to work, you need a bit of a backstory. Frey was the original voice on Azem's shoulder, telling them to smash primals and eat delicious grapes. But Frey was no knight. As your power grows stronger, so too does your link to the void, causing them to reveal their true form. Now, as a vagrant touring the world with scythe-shaped crook in hand and voidsent companion in tow, you plan to head to the vinyards of Meracydia in search of better berries. Once you avenge Amaurot, subjugate a few primals, and punch a few convocation members' faces in, of course.

    That's not how the DRK plot goes. First of all, Frey only exists in the DRK plot in the form of mere memories. The "shade" you encounter in the DRK Jobstory, as well as the one you summon with the lv80 Skill, is basically Your own alter ego (the Darkside that wished to overpower you as hinted in the beginning of the Job Quests), using the memories of Frey to guide you trough the DRK Quests and your Journey.

    Dark Knights also dont harness their Power from the Void, but from their own negative emotions, such as despair, rage and hate, to name a few by supressing them to the point of selflessness.

    And that's how i think DRK should be designed like in its gameplay as well, instead of just being WAR with edgy visuals.

    All this recent talk of bringing back old dark arts made me really think about if current drk can be made to function similarly to HW drk.

    Someone before described 3.0 darkside as having a passive mp drain and an active mp drain, and the current darkside has the passive part but not the latter. So a dark arts like ability would need to cost darkside time rather than mp. Maybe it can replace delirium with the old DA animation and cost 15s of darkside. But it only buffs our ogcds and more powerful attacks. TBN will no longer give DA but just remove the cost of the next flood/edge when broken.

    Darkside is tied to mp but it’s one sided, spending mp correctly always extends darkside so no management there and the minute timer allows us to never spend any mp outside of burst windows which is mind numbing at times. Having a spender not tied to darkside is needed and the easiest solution is to just remove the extension effect from edge of shadows and decrease the mp cost and potency of both to compensate for darkside going down faster and damage from DA.

    Others have talked about an enochian style DA stack and I think that can work for the blood gauge. It is now filled passively as darkside counts down and it fills one every 30s up to two. Spending darkside also counts towards building the gauge so two DAs will fill one stack. The stacks are spent on bloodspiller, quietus, and shadowbringer which will become a spell.

    Changes to the abilities:

    Darkside - added 5% haste to weaponskills and spells.

    C&S - extends darkside. DA effect: guaranteed critical hit.

    Abyssal drain - 30s recast. DA effect: potency increase by 100, apply sole survivor to main target, heals for a percent max hp when effect ends and more if target dies.

    Souleater - DA effect: change action to scourge, applies a 21s dot.

    Stalwart soul - DA effect: 20 potency increase and 200 potency heal.

    Bloodspiller/quietus - 400 potency heal and restores mp.

    Blood weapon - 5 stacks of blood weapon for 30s and consumes one upon landing a weaponskill or spell. Restore mp when a stack is consumed and fills one stack of black blood when all are consumed.

    Shadowbringer - line aoe spell, 60s recharge and holds up to 2. DA effect: increase potency by 100. Cost one stack of black blood.

    Living shadow - cost 20s of darkside. Darkside will not decrease for its duration. Blood will still accumulate and flood will add time but the timer simply won’t go down.

    Dark missionary - added 200 potency heal when damage is taken.

    Dark mind - upgrades to oblation, the two effects combine. Targetable 10% mitigation with 20% bonus magic mitigation. 2 charges on 60s recharge.

    Delirium - grants 1 stack dark arts. Cost 15s of darkside on 2s recast.

    The blackest night - no longer grants DA but simply removes the cost of the next flood/edge. Restore half the mp cost if the shield didn’t break and grants a 10% mitigation for 5s when it does.

    Random idea: let dark knights parry magic attacks.
