Incentivise your customers to use it and buy more. It's obvious isn't?
Crysta isn't a currency like your pounds, euros, dollars etc. It's a virtual made up coin and SE can most likely dictate how long until they "expire".
For me it's just there when I want to register a payment method in the Mogstation.

wohoo ... I guess I see the reason why no ELV is offered: when I registered my SE account long ago (via PSN at that time) my country of origin was wrongly entered as "United Kingdom". And there is no obvious way to change that for the service account.
Still does not really explain why SE doesn't offer SEPA withdraw service, that has to work even in (post Brexit) UK ...
so is my paypal account, the billing address shouldn't matter for this anyway
maybe it's worth e-mailing SE support about this because that's a pretty weird issue
for the record, these are the options I get, UK account like talitha

It's most likely a historical remnant. The "ELV" system shown by ACE135 refers to "Elektronisches Lastschrift Verfahren" (direct withdrawal), a very German banking system very popular here. When the SEPA system was introduced Europe-wide (and yes, that still includes UK) it was supposed to be replaced by the SEPA withdrawal service. My guess it that SE only did implement the bare minimum and only activated that on German accounts. Which is bad as you can't change your county of registration, like ever ...
