Just because xaela are nomadic doesn't mean they have to be aggressive. I never understood why people think this when it comes to wanting xaela to be more aggressive. There are a lot of xaela tribes that are really passive and avoid fighting or don't even like it.
It probably due to the fact they seem more like idols than hardened nomadic, and often war like wanderers.
Being nomadic just means they're wanderers, it doesn't equal aggressiveness. There are some tribes that are like that but not all of them. It'll be silly to base emotes of aggression because of one tribe imo.
Au'ra females were stripped of everything cool that their concept art had. Even the black more 'fierce' looking sclera's the males have in game was robbed from them. I think giving them the option to be taller and having a more highlander-type build option for females would be sufficient. (especially Xaela who are all mostly fierce warriors). The female au'ra in this game look like they can barely lift a 10 lb weight without snapping in half. Also, the fact that they have these large anime eyes with white sclera's and the males have small eyes with black sclera's makes me upset. Female Au'ra could look 10x more menacing with black sclera's, taller builds, and cooler horns like their concept art.
I'm asking myself the same question when it comes to female Xaela's scales. Why are the male ones black while the female ones are blue? I honestly think it actively works against them because the blue scales clash with a bunch of colors whereas black and white work with pretty much anything. So playing a female Xaela actually limits your color options just by your clan choice alone. The eyes make a huge difference between Raen and Xaela male designs, and the scale colour affects how much they stand out.
Xaela are also more likely to use the glowing limbal ring options so their pupils stand out better against the dark background (and/or it's more obvious than on a Raen), which further makes them look fiercer.
Au Ra not Au'ra
imo Xaela scale color + black sclera are easier to work with aesthetic-wise imo. Raen boys feel so much more limiting since the color of their scales look like they've spilled oatmeal on themselves.
I'd attribute it to the simple fact that Xaela had a lot more lore and presence upfront compared to Raen, who were barely present in-game by comparison. Luckily that has since changed.
As for aesthetics, arguably red, gold and white works particularly well with the hue of Raen scales. Though I've even made darker colours work as well.
So long as people avoid the facial option that lacks a defined jaw, I think that they can make a pretty good looking male Au Ra regardless of whether they pick Raen or Xaela.
