To be fair in 11, it's nearly impossible to play effectively without GearSwap and lua scripts to it. But it has the capability to automate gameplay which is the dangerous part.
Literally not true. All LUA and Gearswap have ever accomplished are cleaner, quicker kills. Some of the most impressive solos and lowman things in the game were accomplished without them. They are routinely used now to automate alts.
I played FFXI without Windower for over a decade, and I still have yet to use it. People just like having an edge.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
I mean it's one of those things that makes it impossible to go back once you started. You never used it so I guess it's hard for to picture how it's like using.Literally not true. I haven't played 11 in 8 years so things may changed but as I recall you had quite limited macrolines and equipsets so if you played something that required a lot of gear swapping to maximize your job, like casters back in teh day at least and some DPS with different sets, then Gearswap and even basic function in Windower was a godsent.
But I'm not here to argue about a old game, just my experience with it from playing it a decade with windower.
